    Round 15 Negatives

During my 2 week enforced sabatical, I did some thinking, and decided that it seems too often that threads degrade into pure negativity. Therefore I've decided that after each game I will start one thread to raise and discuss the positives from the match, and one thread to raise and discuss the negatives from the match. I really think this will be a good way to draw positives especially from all games, even the ones we play poorly in. Perhaps it will even help to alleviate some of the disappointments we fans feel after the team lets us down.

The thing that really got me was that it was disappointing that the Waratahs lost the Super 12 final, but after giving it plenty of thought I realised that in fact this year was a huge success and it was hugely satisfying watching the Tahs throughout their campaign. I realised that this was pretty much my exact sentiments about the Swans 1996 and 2003. Sure it sucks that we didnt win, but neither did 14 other teams.

So I'll end this post now and in the next one will post one thing that I found was a huge negative from last night's game, and encourage others to do the same. I'll also start a Round 15 Positives thread in the same manner.

The negative for this match was LRT's drop-off that seems to have continued from the last 2 weeks, after regularly improving from week to week. He must improve his marking for starters, it has been aweful recently.

The main negative for me was the blunders we made to give away free kicks in Geelongs attacking area that resulted in their players kicking goals. Even though Cameron Thurley is Tasmanian and I would like him to do well, not when it means his first 4???? kicks were the result of free kicks.

Disposal last night was not always wonderful. Quite a few errant kicks, handballs to players under pressure (I guess we just have to expect this from the Swans) and kicking to spaces in the F50. I think our second quater was great in terms of direct entry to F50, but I really feel that our delivery to leading forwards could improve.

Kennelly's lack of discipline was a big negative. He gave away a couple of frees.

Hmmm, interesting, 6 to the negatives and 8 to the positives and yet we won by 50 + points!

For me, the biggest negative was the inability to maintain dominance for more than 1 quarter, against an inexperienced and overwhelmed team on our home ground. Should have really buried them. Having said that, the umpires probably gave them another 3 goals.

Second negative was that the players looked pretty knackered at the end of the game and I wonder how they will fare next week. As pointed out Davis and ROK spent most of the game just running and I wonder about the recovery.

                        Kennelly and his undisciplined frees.
                        (Was it laziness? )

                        LRT and 'that kick'.

                        The umpiring.

For me, the bookend were disappointing.

Leo Barry's numerous free kicks against. Roos: He cant handle the big blokes. We need Schuable at FB!!!

MOL's ineffectiveness despite a dominat midfield feeding the forward line. Is he really up to holding down such a key post as FF? Does his inconsistancy put to much pressure on hall to perform week in week out.

Leo gave away a couple but look at how effective he's been all year. Look at how well our undersized defence has generally coped. And look at how he continued to rebound, something we wouldn't get from Schauble.

As for the MOL comment, I don't think that really deserves to be dignified with rebuttal.

Only negative to come out of the game was our inability to put Geelong away more in the last quarter once we got on top of them.

But that difference was only about another 3 or 4 goals.
