    Using the ladder predictor and tipping the team most likely to win (us always of course), I've got Sydney in 2nd place by the end of round 19, with the Roos breathing down our necks in 3rd. Those positiosn wont change in round 20, meaning our round 21 game against the despised North scum may decide 2nd place! Woo-hoo. How I'd love to to see Sydney beat the Roo ratbags to end their hopes of finishing 2nd.

      by what miracle will we suddenly start beating them in finals
      By the same miracle that let Brisbane lose to us twice in the regular season of 2003 but beat us and win the flag mere weeks later in the finals. The don't hand out premierships in the Home and Away season.

        Amazing number of '8 point games' over the remaining weeks.
        Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

          Not premierships, but there is the Dr. McLelland Trophy.

                Our three remaining home games are all promising to be rippers (West Coast, Brisbane and North).

                  And not just for us. Adelaide, St Kilda, Melbourne, Geelong and North all have crunch games against each other. Very few "easy" games left over now.

                    With a (reasonably) realistic expectation of us only dropping the Adelaide game, I have us finishing second too. However, whilst we may continue winning, Adelaide have to drop a couple, as do Geelong. And WE need to account for the Roos.

                    Also with your scenario we face the Roos in the first week and out at TS! Even better if we were to win that too to advance to the PF!! ... {getting way ahead of myself now}

                      We are just as likely to do all the hard work and win the next couple of hard games and then lose to Hawthorn in round 22!

                        I'd hate to lose any last game of the season. Especially if it's against Hawthorn!

                              August 28 IIRC.

                              I was sitting in the maternity ward with my newborn son and his fluffy "my first Sherrin" watching it all go pear shaped!
