Originally posted by Ruckman I suppose you could make that same criticism about the reserves game as well. However some people can't get enough of the Swans and show up to see the reserves and enjoy it and we'll watch the oldies too, so there!
That's one thing I really like about the Ressies playing in the Canberra comp -- they are always on before the Seniors. I really like watching them play. You see the youngsters getting a run, improving, taking risks. You see the dropped seniors dominating play, kicking goals left right and centre, rebuilding their confidence, fighting tooth and nail for selection...
It reminds me of the glory days of the Kings and Flames - two games for the price of one. Good times, good times...
Plus, the ressies can hear you should you wish to give them support/stick. I like that, considering I am yet to develop a barracker's voice to be heard above the crowd...
And I am more open to a game between former greats than I am minor celebrities. There's a reason why Australian Idol contestants are not AFL players... Give me solid, balding former players over E-grade celebs anyday!

Originally posted by Ruckman Actually I remember my dad pointing out his heroes to me in just such a game 30 odd years ago when I was a kid, it 's all about getting in touch with the history of this club. Something Swans marketing seem incapable of.
In any case being a "fat has been reliving their glory days" is a lot better than being an acerbic never was reviling someone else's glory days!
Sorry if I seem a little heated but you seem to have hit a particularly sensative nerve there.
Is it better than being a duffer that things go right over the head of?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Thanks so very much for that 'stellation'. Even after 'mark' corrected my misapprehension in a previous post I am still greatfull for your additional assistance. I may still have had some lingering uncertainty about the risability of 'ROK' and 'JF's' comments so your post while 9 hours late, was still better late than never.
And yes clearly I am a duffer. I find it hard to detect sarcasm unless I have tone of voice to guide me, indeed I was also under the impression that irony, like coppery and tinny was a metallurgical term.
MMMmmmmmm Moose Henwood....now there's a name from the past. We need him these days....or someone like him to put a bit of steel in the spine....
I'd even pay to see a legends game if they could drag in Bomford and Rhino....that would be worth paying money to see again....well, maybe not!
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."
i loved seeing my old heroes have a kick on the scg. Hopefully our club will do it regulary , so the old players can keep in touch with each other and their club. and i know other supporters feel the same

I didn't see this before the thread was bumped back up. Sorry about that, I certainly was the duffer! I was just joking, I've always thought of duffer as a friendly ribbing type term

No prob whatsoever, I've been called a lot worse. And it's probably true.
In any case why were the legends not playing in their old numbers, some of them have changed so much it was hard working out who was who (Troy should do commentary rather than interviews next time).
