Koschitzke has signed with the Saints until the end of 2007
In the scheme of things though, the odds of us signing him were very long indeed, so now we can start worrying about more realistic options for recruitment.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Very long indeed considering he has re signed with the Saints tonight. No great loss. Four good games out of 4-5 injury plagued seasons doesn't make him a champion.
I much prefer home grown products.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

a) If the Saints don't win a flag pretty soon, there's gunna be an awfull lot of disgruntled young stars by 2007.
b) Should we have a sweep as to when the AFL pings the Saints for salary cap breaches?
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.

You gotta wonder how much longer the Sainst can afford to keep (within the salary cap) so many star and potential star players. Then again, Brisbane were able to do it, granted with extra $ in their salary cap.

IMHO the situations are a bit different. Brisbane were able to do it but they didn't have a bunch of high draft picks as such. They were very talented players but they wouldn't have arrived at the club thinking that they were stars in the making.
Also, most of their good players were there for the spoon in '98.
And, of course, they did actually win flags. St Kilda are essentially "ripping off" their players by telling them to stay and win flags when the chance of them actually winning one is not that high. West Coast , Geelong & Adelaide have perhaps passed them - as have we if you look at table positions. Teams like the Bulldogs, Richmond & Hawthorn will be challenging sooner rather than later. Melbourne probably have the talent.
As Ruckman said, there could certainly be a bunch of disgruntled players there in a year or two.
Good to see Swans were in the mix tho - we apparently have room in the salary cap so let's get out & use it. Kosi may not have been the ideal peg for our holes but the reality is that these days only a handful of stars actually make the jump so you need to be active to have a chance.

That is good news, it is only a two year deal which goes to show the Saints are still not 100% he will be able to stand up physicaly wise for a lengthy period of time.
We can now get ready to have another crack at him in two years time and hopefully he will have sorted out his injury issues and St Kilda will not be in the ball park money or term of contract wise.

I shall ignore any and all double-entendre's and feudian slips.
I think Kosi would have been a perfect fit for our forward line (and considerable utility), which operates almost exclusively on leads and has very limited ability in the air. Other options such as Whitnall would be more of the same

You know even as I typed it I just knew someone would make a comment. Back to the psychologist's couch for me I guess....
At least Swans and Carlton caused St Kilda to up the ante and put further cap pressure on. Read reports that he is getting $400K in 2006 and backended to much more the year after. Have the Saints signed all their gun players now?

In other words, a bit like getting a fresh young Leppitsch? I'd like to see that.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
