I totally agree. Coleman medal would be nice but participation in the finals is far more important. Look what happened to MOL in 2003 - Roos wont want that to happen again.

I saw the wave as something for the crowd to do during the break in play - it was pretty impressive how it managed to do several circuits of the stadium. I was a bit half-hearted about joining in - given the seriousness of the injury (I only found out it was a broken leg when I saw it on the news), it probably was poor form.

I didn't think it was appropriate to start up the "Sydney" clap-clap-clap chant when he was being carried off though - simple applause is enough in that situation when a player from either team is carried off.

On the other hand, maybe I'm taking this too seriously. I'm sure no ill-feeling was directed towards Lappin by the wave.

I can imagine some people here would be up in arms if it was a Swans player injured and opposition supporters were chanting and doing the wave...

Yeah, poor form. Everyone should have ran on to the ground and helped stretcher him off. Or at least sat there like stunned mullets.

Actually I couldn't care less. Simply put:

Davis' lack of form still. Sure he was injured, but it would be magnificent to have him chipping in with 2-3 goals a game. Perhaps he should be moved into the middle for the last two h&a games, to see if he can run into form.

Again he looked very close to being on song.

He could very easily have had 3 goals - snared the ball and was about to kick a goal when ROK was given a free (this was very entertaining to watch! ) and also his left foot snap was touched on the line by Michael.

I actually thought he looked like he was waltzing back into some form.

He seemed to play more of a set midfield role in the final quarter. Davis picked up 10 disposals (admittedly a few of those stats padding with Schneider!) for the quarter so hopefully getting a bit of the footy will help him.

Also, as Bloods said, he could easily have had a couple more goals. He also broke and got a fair lead on his defender a few times only to receive absolutley shocking delivery from the midfield. On one occassion (in the 1st or the 3rd) he looked to have a good 5 metres on his opponent on a strong lead in the F50 only for the delivery, which looked like a lovely kick, to force him to stop in his tracks and wait for an overhead mark, that his opponent with a running leap spolit easily. Very frustrating to see on a day when they seemed to be able to put it out in front of the tall forwards.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Davis was clearing the ball nicely from contests regularly in the second half when he was running through the midfield. I too think he's finding some form, and only a few niggling injuries stopped him having a truely good game yesterday.

As for the wave, it was NOT in response to the injury. It had gathered momentum well before Lappin went down.

?? According to me, 0 (ade) + 7 (Ess) = 7. So they're right. But I think what they meant was that they had kicked seven in EACH - which he did against Melbourne, but that was two weeks prior to Adelaide (ie, before WCE).

And I hate Ch 9's commentary and coverage too.

Agree I would rather see Swans win a flag more than anything else in footy ever. I've seen Brownlows & Colemans and I couldn't give a rats toss frankly.
