The only disappointing thing for me is the weasley way they announced it, saying "we want a captain for the finals, we want the rotation, ergo it's Barry 'cos it was his turn next."
Poor form to lie in public like this.
Just tell the truth which is "we've chosen Barry to captain us in the finals," because otherwise the impliocation is that if Benny had been next he'd have been the one to captain ALL the finals.
Obviously that is bollocks and OBVIOUSLY the point of the announcement is because it is inconceivable that Benny could captain us on GF day.
Sure you don't want to actually say that out loud...but I am disappointed that the club chose to pretend (which is a nice word for lying) otherwise.
I thought Roosey might have been above that.

Wow, can't believe I've missed this til now - its big news. OK, not "Man Lands on Moon" big news but big enuff in our little world.
However, the way I read the article it hasn't been confirmed yet? Or are we assuming that an intimation on the Swans website is close enuff to an official announcement?

I believe you have cut through the crap perfectly!

Unfortunately, as a result Sharp9, you have forfeited the right to be employed as a PR Manager for a footy team which requires the ability to layer on aforesaid faeces with a trowel.
Roosy still needs to talk to the coaching panel before deciding.
I thought the announcement was fine. Give the leadership group a say as well as protect egos. Whoever captains will need the support of the others in the group and their buy in in the process should ensure this.
I think this announcement shows that the Swans consider themselves a very strong chance of making the GF. Otherwise it would have been unnecessary to make such a comment at all.

RWO Moderator would be perfect for consistency, though.

Poor giant he's still clutching at straws because in his heart of hearts he was hoping his "Premiership Captain Ben Matthews LRT Norm Smith Medallist" double prediction would come true.

Actually I was genuinely up for it until Andrew Ireland said I'd have to move to Sydney!

"Since the system was put in place there has been a push from outside the club to install Hall as the captain permanently"
I would say that the 'push' from outside the club would be no greater for Hall than for Kirk or Goodes to be permanent captain. I would love to see BBBH get the nod for captain but I wonder why Roosy singled him out in this statment.
