Better for Eagles or Crows to Lose?

This week should give an indication as to whether the Eagles' performance against Geelong was an abberation or whether the wheels have come off.

Their only impressive performance of late was against Fremantle who have an inferiority complex against the Weagles anyway.

If the Eagles lose - then we would have to inflict their 3rd loss in a row in the finals at Subi - tough ask!

I'd feel more comfortable against the Crows at a ground that we seem to play well at.

Swans seem to get lost in the wide open spaces at Subiaco.

Small point, but Subiaco is not wide, it's long.

Narrower than MCG and about the same as the SCG.

Not so - Subi is only 122 wide, SCG is 136 and MCG is 141. Telstra Stadium is only 118. So Subi is, in effect, a nature strip.

I would rather play at Football Park then Subiaco but i think Adelaide will beat West Coast this week and we'll be playing in Perth.

I'm very confident WC will get up this week, and far more confident about our chances in the QF against Adelaide.

Nevertheless, talk of "avoiding teams" is really unnecessary by now. We are clearly one of, if not THE, form sides of the competition right now. THEY should be fearing US, and I hope that's the message Roosy is getting through to the team.

My preference is for neither but I'm very keen for a dry track in week 1 of the finals. Previous finals campaigns have invariably been derailed by either dismal form in the last rounds of the home and away season, or through exhausting ourselves in week 1 by playing in trying conditions.

Our promising campaign of '98 saw us pipping St Kilda in a close one in wet conditions. The following week against Adelaide was also sodden. The Crows played on a dry track the previous week and thumped us. Last year we beat WCE in an electrical storm then played St Kilda who had played on a dry track with an extra day's rest against Brisbane.

Even in 96' we fell over the line against Hawthorn in week 1 after a tough rain-swept game against WCE in R22.

Give us dry conditions and we'll be fine. We can beat anyone as long as the playing field is level.

We are a bit lucky this weekend, because the weather in Melbourne will be great, but not in Perth where showers are forecasted for Saturday.

Expect fine conditions today and Saturday though it will be cloudy at times. A

Certainly beats playing uphill!

Both have proven themselves to be tough opponents, and this strength will increase exponentially come finals.

I don't believe the outcome of the H&A season games against the Crows or the Wiggles will mean a great deal come next week. It will be how much we have learned from them, and from others who have played them.

Preparation is everything.
On-field performance is everything.

No matter what gets thrown in their path, I believe (with quiet confidence) the Swans with triumph.
