    Team Glory Vs Personal Achievements

I would like to thank Barry Hall who has obviously given up the chance of personnel achievements (Coleman Medal) for team glory.

    Well done.

This is something that all team sportsmen should take note off. "There isn't an 'I' in team"

Whilst this team play isn't only something Barry has, it is something that should be noted!

This is one reason why the Swans have their best chance since 96 of wining the Grand Final. A very good team play. I believe that this is the game plan that Roosy talks about Building a champion team.

They have raised the bar for team play and no one is being selfish. Team Glory before personnel achievements.

    Well done.

A great team will beat champion players every time!

Good luck Swans in the west (win and deserve the week off)

    <snip>

Barry will look a bit silly if we dont get any team acheivements this year.

IMO, he should have got the 5 when he had the chance. To quote another meaningless cliche, "Make hay while the sun shines".

      There is a 'me' though!

But, I do agree that one of the great attributes of Hall is his ability to set up good shots at goal rather than take a wild ping.

Why? Who cares? What does it matter about individual awards in a team competition?

Maybe he heard the Coleman medal was infested with evil spirits. Plugger won it in 1996.

Let's hope it is as that means The Saints won't be a threat.

I totally agree Barry. The chance was def. there so he should've taken it.

I'm sure it will matter to him if we get thrown out in straight sets.

Unfortunate consequence of Swans culture. 1996 grand final, 2003 preliminary. Had the chances, didnt take it.

Individual glories and team glories are completely different. The Swans have one of (or the?) most Brownlows of any club - who cares!! A flag is better. Anything else is just a minor award on the way.

                          correct

                          flag > brownlow + coleman

Completely agree with NMW Bloods. But.....
This game was one of those that was would rank in the 'ordinary' and defiantely not all that important matches. It was against a very ordinary team and the game wasnt in doubt past the 1st change - so, having said that, with the game pretty much won and this being nothing but a glorified training run why didnt Hall have a crack?
If we were playing the Saints or Crows and we were only up by 2, then I completely agree with what Bloods has said and Hall should do whats best for the team, but he had a chance in a match that wasnt all that crucial. Should have had a go, especially in the third and fourth quaters.
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

so what would we be saying if he was on in the last qtr trying to snatch the coleman and he did a hammy

our flag chances would be ****ed
