    Keys To Friday Night Success!

Finals are an amazing thing with reputations made:

Brereton, Hopkins, Shaw, Cresswell (just my opinion), Daicos, Ablett and co all conjuring spirit, the likes rarely seen in the H&A season.

Paul Roos and Leigh Matthews will say that finals are just another game and it's ridiculous to think that people lift, grow an extra leg or whatever, but it is undeniable, if you don't lift for finals (the reason you play at all), then you're not human.

Who will UNEXPECTEDLY lift for Sydney, more importantly, who does Sydney need something special from? Who have you got your eye on that can lay that brilliant tackle in the forward line to create that winning goal, who will take that heart stopping defensive mark in the backline?

My 3 BIG GAME players will be:

    * GOODES: Has been close to hopeless for 3 weeks. Lifted bigtime at AAMI in 2003. Will be disappointed by the past few weeks and the means a heck of a lot to him.

    * BALL: When JB fires, we generally win. Marks well, rucks well, smarter than most in general play. Knows Subi like no other and this is his last chance at some more premiership glory.

    * KENNELLY: Not known for his bravery but could emerge as a Daicos type. Subi has to suit his running game and we need it. 4 of those runs in a quarter for 4 quarters would be enough to earn us a week off.

Who do YOU think will make their reputation on Friday night??

I would throw in Paul Williams as well. He must have some running left in his "old" legs. He should add some speed to our midfield in absence of Maxfield.

        - Crouch has to shut down Matera a la Nicks last year.
        - Willo and Goodes have been relatively quiet in the last few weeks. I'm looking for big games from them.
        - LRT will have a very intriguing matchup against Hansen, or possibly the resting ruckman.

Hopefully - like most weeks different people lift and I hope that is so - we don't rely on the one person to lift every game.

Kirky, he will dominate the midfield eclipsing Judd and Cousins and once and for all prove that he is the best midfielder in the comp bar none!

              GO KIRKY!!!

After my pep talk to him on Saturady night, he will be the star of the finals series, just you watch!!

Hall to kick a few, but give away many.

The MAIN key is that our forward line is firing like never before. And they don't mind sharing it around.

Very simple formula for victory this week:

                    * Everyone to adhere to team rules and disciplines and all play to the best of their abilities

Do that and the result will take care of itself.

Barometer Ben Mathews - If he is hot the swans are hot.

Poor game by Ben = swan playing poor.

Agree that the swans have a few of these types of players

Goodes is another that when playing well = the swans playing well!

Team work is the Key (110% by all players)

Good call. Especially when Woosha starts throwing suprise strategies against us. EG:

                        1. Matera in their backline, to crumb against our marking efforts (considering we have poor crumbers currently)
                        2. Cox at FF as the resting ruckman. We coped quite poorly with it at the SCG early in the game. LRT's improvement in form should hopefully negate such a move, and we learnt the importance of team work down there pretty well this year (the North game was proof of that!)
                        3. Judd to float into their backline. Not that surprising, but it would provide them with heaps of run out of their back half and quick delivery to their forwards.
                        4. Gardiner on Hall. He has the strength and height to spoil or mark. Naturally our other forwards have stepped up considerably, but with few crumbers in our team, they would be more confident at ground level.

That makes no sense given we've been playing well now for a couple of months

points 1 and 4 just wouldnt happen although 2 and 3 are fair. If gardiner plays on hall its happy days as baz would run him off his feet and he's coming back from injury.

i'm more worried about gardiner, lynch, cox and hansen in their forward line and if they get on top we could be in strife. andrew embley is another danger man who we have to contend with. quite happy with crouchy on matera although it wouldnt surprise me to see schneider on him as he's been in the back half lately and had some experience with davey. but hope we stick with crouch!
