Schneider tries to be too much of a "hero"

Does anyone else think Schneider tends to be get a bit carried away in the moment sometimes and go for the glory? He is a good player, dont get me wrong. But i think he sometimes he tends to be a bit selfish and have a difficult shot when it may be better to pass it off.

does anyone agree or disagree?

He has been known to blindly blaze away, but then again, his handball to MOL for the goal in the last quarter was intelligent team play.

He gets it right more often than not when in touch.

He adds a bit of excitement.

I dont agree Dave. I think he gets it wrong about half of the time. He is very skilled, and can manouver well. But i think he is a shocking kick for goal especially from a decent range. I mean look at the shot he missed against west coast early on. A professional athlete should never completely miss the target from 30 m out.

Dave said "when on song", and that's pretty much right. When he is firing, he'll kick something like 2.1 or 3.1 (just like his debut season) - when he is struggling, it might be 0.1 or 0.2, or maybe no scoring shots at all.

It averages out I think. When he learns to settle before kicking properly, he is going to be a handful for opposition sides.

What are your thoughts on O'Keefe? He certainly will never die wondering if he could have kicked a goal from pretty much any spot on any field he played on.

Dont mind if he is selfish now and then. He is not in the team to play it safe. Yes, he was played as a back pocket to understand the defensive value of the game but his full value is still his attacking flair. A selfish goal out of the blue would inspire the whole group. A lucky break going his way could change the complete course of the game.

The way he went through in kicking that last goal shows a great deal of maturity.

Back to the familiar ground with home crowd should help him. We might see something special from him this weekend.

O'keefe is awesome. Strong hands, and a sharp kick for goal. He has really stepped up for us. I find that i don't really get much of a nervous feeling when he is kicking for goal. He is usually pretty reliable.

From a set shot Schneids is not as good as on the run (a bit like Willo) but he has natural ability and thrives as one of those "hero" types.

He's OK IMO.

We have a few blokes that from set shots you have to hold your breath. MOL and Goodesy are others who can miss easy shots

I think he suffers from expectations a bit, people remembering what he did earlier in his carear, so he tries to do it again. He'll get better with experience.

Proffesional athlete's miss those shots all the time. O'Keefe misses one every game that he could have passed off.

It's a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm forever getting annoyed with the players who don't back themselves to take a shot at goal, look for the pass, miss the target and off goes the opposition up the other end of the ground.

Sometimes the shots at goal will come off, sometimes they won't. Sometimes the pass will have been the better option, sometimes it won't. Sometimes the pass to a teammate will find a target, sometimes it won't.

I'm sure as he continues to play he'll take the better option more often than not, and that's really all you can ask.

As for Schneids:

Sometimes you just have to back yourself to get the job done. If he'd tried giving it off from that posi than we'd be screaming at him to have a go.

As for ROK:

His hands are as good as any - but his kicking has been pretty average this year.
