Schneider tries to be too much of a "hero"

Well he came darn close to being a hero on the weekend. He dished off a clever handball to MOL when I was thinking he'd (stupidly) try to bend it back with his left.

Then he took a great mark knowing there was no time left, quickly went back and kicked it from 48m.

A bit unfair to criticise him based on those efforts.

Interestingly I thought he was going to take a shot from the angle but I wasn't overly fussed as he has a natural right to left swing on his kick, so it was strangely the 'right side' for him.

A few weeks ago I accused Schneider of lairising. Lately I think he has been more aware of what's going on around him - no fancy 100 metre runs through the middle, not just drop the ball and swing the leg -a more team oriented player. Good luck to him, when he's hot, he's hot.
ROK is a very good forward - but he's not having a good season by his standards.

i agree however i forgive him b/c every so often he gets it right and it's extremely exciting to watch... likewise with Amon Buchanan..

I think he is learning this year that when you're in form you can have a crack, but when you're off the boil its best to look for support from your team.

if schneids is hot in the next few weeks look out premiership. he has played a few different roles this season and i think it'll hold him in good stead for the rest of the year and beyond

i just hope that he backs himself and not think of that miss in the 1st qtr on friday night. confidence is essential for the little fella and i hope he can produce more of his freakish abilities from 2003 (and that goal against WC at the scg this yr)

In regards to the original poster - you cant base crticisim on one kick in one game! More often that not it comes off for him and to see him back himself is far better for him and the team, rather than seeing him stutter and not know what to do with the ball. Sometimes you can only play whats in front of you - he has the speed and the footwork to beat most - so why not use those accents! Thats he's style of play - you cant ask a player to change their natural style otherwise you will lose them completely.
Whats wrong with being a hero? Someone has to stand up for the team and if he does it - great!

But he hasn't stood, up 5.4 in the last 8 games, including 2.1 against the WC when "he was back" is not a great return for a hero.
