You tell em Orginalswan! I was going crazy - I haven't had a feeling like I did tonight since the 96 prelim! GO SWANS!
I always thought we could win - but then again - I always do until the final siren. Even in those seasons where we only won one game I thought we were always going to win. I suffer from a massive case of blind optimism...
Originally posted by timbo But seriously with davis kicking it with 5 seconds left, the heavans drove us home. It was always meant to be.
Roosy was interviewed by 3AW right after the game and he said there was one second left on the clock after Davis kicked it. Talk about finals hero. One second between glory and the agony of defeat.
I gave up (but was still hoping lol) at 3/4 time - just couldn't see how we could kick the goals.....
Victory was made sweeter (not that it needed to be), the 'lovely' Geelong fans behind us were making their Prelim final plans painfully obvious half way through the last quarter.....was nice to wave them goodbye
Ye of little faith. At the ground it was clear the momentum had shifted in the third quarter and all we needed to do was kick straight and sooner or later we'd get over the top of them. Unfortunately at the 26 minute mark I was beginning to think that it was going to be so much later as to be next year. Phew!
I never give up a 1/2 time - it's only half over! 1 goal 6 behinds in the third quarter pretty much had me lifting the needle on the blame-the-umpires-for-the-loss record though.
I'm amazed we won. Looking at the players 15 mins. in the last every time it came out to our wing, Kirk, Buchanan, were all blowing very hard, I was packing my bag ready to leave feeling robbed again.
I still had the faith until the Swans managed to manufacture the ball into Jude's hands, he ran the boundary and then kicked onto the chest of a Cats defender. Thought we'd definitely blown our last chance then.
Yeah, Cats' 4th quarter goal too. I was THIS close to storming out and sooking all the way home on the train, while my fianc?e and her parents searched for me high and low in the SCG.
I've been to 120+ games, and never once left a game early, but it was so close tonight... If Nicky D hadn't booted that sensational goal right in front of our seats in the Churchill Stand, I would be currently (a) in very big trouble with the MRS, and (b) cursing myself for missing that comeback.
All I remember of the last goal was a mad scramble in the goalsquare, then the ball curling sweetly around. I think at that point my brain actually exploded - the next thing I remember clearly was 30 seconds later, the siren had gone and I was hugging a lot of people I had never met before.....
People, we deadset STOLE that game. Sometimes you need a bit of luck to go your way.. and we just used it ALL up. Here's hoping we take advantage of it.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog
