GF tickets - Queue-pooling

Well, you've heard about car-pooling, but I think queue-pooling can help the environment even more

I hate to tempt fate, but one has to make arrangements just in case. If we beat St Kilda in the prelim final on Friday, there's going to be a hell of a mess scrambling to get queue tickets on Saturday.

What I am proposing is a system whereby we can form up in groups of 8, have just one member collecting a queue ticket so we don't have 8 single members all driving to the SCG on Saturday AND Sunday to get their tickets. Some people will already be doing this within their own social circles of course, but I'm thinking about those of us who might have a single membership, or perhaps be the only prem/SS club member in your group (or vice versa) and wish to sit with other like-minded folk instead of taking their chances with TicketMaster's allocation system.

Maybe even chip in a few bucks each to contribute towards travel/parking for the ticket collecting volunteer

Anyone keen? Would obviously need to have two types of groups, full club and SS/Prem

I'm up for it. I think I'll be required to get five tickets for family (all members) though, so that will leave only three

Is it common to camp out to get a queue ticket? Should I be packing the sleeping bag in my car ready for a dash after the final siren on Friday night?

From my estimation, there are about 4 to 5,000 members who have Sydneysider and Premiership Club memberships. These tickets on sale from 9am to 12pm Sunday.

The AFL usually allocates about 8,000 tickets to members for the GF.

If you are a full member who didn't take up the Premiership Club offer, I'd be camping out at the SCG on Friday night because there will be many that will miss out. These tickets on sale from 1pm to 5 pm Sunday.

8 tickets per transaction with cards.

Are there any Full AFL members with Swans support out there? I've been upgraded this year and was wondering if we could sit near each other?

Wow, so only 3000 tickets to full club members? Time to dig out my sleeping bag. It's an hours' drive from my house to the SCG too, so I'll have to try and find the portable, battery powered TV my Pop bought years ago.

You should have received an email last night advising that the letters will be posted today. However, you can read the contents of the letter on the Swans' website (but will still need the actual letter to get your barcode).

Would it make any difference that we would be playing an interstate side? Maybe a few more tickets than normal...or am I just hoping for something that isn't going to happen?

If we do make it to the GF, would the queue tickets be sold straight after the game/on Saturday/Sunday??? I remember after the Brions in 2003 we were told we'd have to queue straight after the game.

I live about a 10-15 minwalk from the SCG, and all things going well, I may be able to queue up pretty early. I'd be getting 4 tickets at the most (just GF preference, not the premiership club).

Less. Unfortunately, Adelaide and West Coast have the largest memberships in the entire league. Our share of the allocation will be quite small.

My mate with Premmy Club membership emailed the letter to me, so I don't know whether it was emailed to him or he found it on the Swans website.

The letter states that you would queue for tickets between 9 am to 11 am on Saturday at the SCG.

Based in a rough calculation with us playing West Coast with a total of 95,000 seats available, the allocation will look a bit like this:

(A) 1,000
(B) 2,500
(C) 10,800

Total Allocation = 14,300

(A) - This is the AFL Clubs allocation (1 of 16) and will split between the GF function and Club Sponsors.

(B) - This is the competing club allocation and will be split for cheer squad members, red back members, staff, family and friends of players and life members etc

(C) - This is our entitlement to the competing club members (both clubs get 4,000 seats and then the rest, 17,000 is split according to adult membership numbers, in the case of West Coast they would get around 60% of this), of the 10,800 both the Sydneysider & Premiership Club will get 4,000 with the rest for GF preference members and full season ticker holders (around 6,800 tickets to sell).

Of course if the MCG is not at 95,000 (which I think is doubtful considering how far it was to go a couple of weeks ago) then it will be scaled back.

So if the MCG is at full capacity, the first 850 in the queue ticket queue should get tickets (by these calculations)? And that's assumming all in the queue queue take 8 tickets. That's not as bad as I thought.

That sounds about right, but don't forget that of the 6,800 a number of those tickets may only be standing as generally the AFL includes the standing allocation in the competing club members allocation.

The other X factor is how many of ours and West Coasts members are adults?, which they use to make the calculations.

I would be very worried if I had que ticket number 850 and above, but don;t forget also that Melbourne members will be queing and will have a set amount of tickets to be sold in Melbourne based on membership splits. Of those 6,800 tickets something like 20% (1,360 tickets) will be sold only in Melbourne to make it fair.

Should be more than that, since (nearly) all Melbourne members would be planning to go, but many Sydney members won't be able to for financial/work/family reasons.

I suspect that the Melbouren tickets will be more competitive than the Sydney ones. And if Sydney people down for the prelim are able to get their tickets in Melbourne, it will be a debacle!
