Um you guys may laugh at me but is there any chance of a non-member getting a ticket to the GF? Am desperate to go to the game if the boys get there(...when the boys get there!!) but I let my membership lapse as I was overseas for a while...

Unfortunately not much chance Rebecca.
First up, we might only get 12,000-15,000 tickets. Then about 5000 redback/sydneysider/prem club members get a guaranteed GF ticket. Then 20,000 full members get a shot at what's leftover. THEN, any leftover get sold to the public.
You might have to either persuade a member who can't go to part with their membership ticket, or scour eBay etc.. Or if you don't mind paying big bucks, all the clubs would be offering grand final breakfast type packages (but they can cost anywhere up to $1000 and over)
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Is there any chance of a non-member getting a ticket other than through a tout? Nah - unless you win one in a competition, or see if you can still find a ticket to a weekend function that has a ticket for the game thrown in with a breakfast or GF-eve dinner. But none of those come cheap either, and you won't get a refund if the Swans lose this Friday.Comment

This will all end in tears. I would not queue for anyone and would not ask anyone to queue for me. There will be misunderstandings, tickets being purchased at 4pm somewhere after somewhere else sells out at 1.30pm, people forgetting, chucking in the wait, losing money etc etc. Be warned people, is it wise to hand responsibility of something that you, and others here, are likely to be extremely emotional/passionate about to a virtual friend from cyberspace. Oh, RWO will be white hot Sun/Mon/Tue. You have been warned...Comment

The issue here is two queues on Saturday - am GF pref (rather than Prem club) so am happy to head down for that early on Sat morning (being in Bondi) but obviously can't help out any Prem Club members as I will need to be in a separate queue.
Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to queue on Sat morning for you.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
