Looking at the Foxtel longe range weather forecast, the GF and a few days leading up to it will be fine.

Rain predicted for Perth on Saturday but only Saturday. Probably will end up being a dry game for them.

Forecast for Melbourne Issued at 1625 on Thursday the 15th of September 2005

      Tonight and Friday
A shower two clearing tonight. Fine at first tomorrow but showers with the chance of hail and thunder developing in the afternoon. Westerly wind easing
tonight and tending northwesterly in the morning before a colder southwesterly change later in the day.

The team may have been picked with this in mind.

If the weather is in successive order, the showers will come before the hail and thunder that will develop in the afternoon. A wet morning I see.

It will be 8 - 9 Degrees during game time.

Not sure if it will rain, my guess is no.

That weather forecast gives me an unsettling sense of de ja vous.

I woke up to a very clear sky and a very cold temp.

Now there is light cloud around but it is very sunny.

Apparently it won't stay all day.

We've been checking satellite and radar images madly in my office. If there is to be storms and hail I cannot for the life of me see where it would be coming from......

If you look at the satellite, that speckled cloud behind the main band of cloud, is where the hail will come from. Now two of the weather models that forecasters use, show most of the signifcant precipitation sliding to the SE of Melbourne- only brushing the area slightly. 0nly showing a trace of rain (0.4 to 1mm). The Bureau's own model - which is semi suspect at best, and is widely known to be unrealible comparitevely, has this colder air impacting on Melbourne more significantly between 5-11pm.

Saying that - the Bureau would be pretty confident in their analysis if they are forecasting hail.

Certainly the other models aren't suggesting a massive Sydney-like downpour - but if a lone thunderstorm floats over the MCG - then it really won't make a difference. Rain is rain....

Here is the radar for further checking today:

Seems the weather people have gone back to their earlier forcast in the week, thunderstorms & hail!!!!!!!!!

But as mentioned above I don't know where it is going to come from as the last front has moved through and there does not seem to be anything behind it.

Also this morning in Melbourne is about as best as it has been for the last week.

I'll put my money on it not raining and if it does it won't be much more than a couple of showers.
