    Memo Joe Dirt,

According to their annual reports Pennant Hills spent almost $70,000 more on their football department than the eagles. When we talk on this forum about "buying premierships", some factual substance would go a long way to enhancing your credability. It is easy for anyone to post whatever they want on this site, that is the beauty of it, free speech. It would be good however if occasionally people posted something that contains factual evidence to back up their statements.

Well said House. It seems a lot of people in Sydney Football mistake club promotion, information distribution and professionalism for arrogance and inflated egos.
The uninformed are quick to throw in the $$ line at every opportunity when the truth is that there are a number of clubs who would spend a similar amount to recruit players. Those clubs that have put in the hard work to be in a favourable financial position should be able to enjoy the benefits without persecution from those clubs / supporters who have not, after all isn't every club aiming to have the best list it can?
It is very rare that a senior team will be successful on the field without a professional and hard working administration, just having the dollars will not gaurantee success and if it does, rarely will it be sustained.
It is also very rare that a well ran, financial club does not get the opportunity to realise success. Anyone who has been involved in a successful club will quickly tell you that everything must be right, on and off the field, to have sustained success.

Those clubs that are striving to be professional, financial and ultimately successful should be looked at as the bench mark and not as someone who needs to be dragged back down to a level that everyone else can keep up with.
Good luck to all teams for 2006.

        House,

I'm guessing that you probably cant read financial statements very well. It has been glaringly obvious over the last few years how much $ ECE have spent. And good luck to them. But I highly doubt your claims regarding the spending of Pennant Hills have any solid base.

Who have they spent all their money on then??? Its definately not on their ground and other than Laine Spencer they have had no major "recruits" over the last few years?? So please back up your claims as you state above. Quote your sources, and exactly where or how all this money you claim is being spent.

Im not up to date with Pennant Hills' financial situation or where their spending goes, but Pennant Hills seems to rely on a good junior base. They havent had many interstate recruits for a while that i can think of. They seem to rely on the likes of Juniors turning into solid footballers much in the same mould of St George and North Shore. The have had some great juniors come through the ranks like Dugmore, Addisions, Donohue just to name a few....

PS I trimmed the mullet today. Time to get back to the farm....

            Batman,

The financial information you are referring to (which apparently has 'no solid base') is readily available in both the Eagles and Demons Annual Report. Do other clubs have any available for the SAFL community to read?

Both these clubs have no issues publishing their financial figures which, according to the letter of the law, all incorporated clubs (SAFL Clubs included) must make this available.

Joe Dirt.....A few junior eagles that stood out in the games I saw last season were Physick, Goodrem, McLeod, both Ure's, Fitton and a few others...I believe these players came through a solid junior program.

Is there still an under age rule in play this year...i.e. 6 under 23's? or has that been ruled out?

Good luck to the teams in the International Rules hitout next week..

Thankyou Gambler. The figure of Pennant Hills paying $70,000 more than East Coast come from both clubs end of year reports. Unlike some peoples comments on here this is FACT. It doesn't matter who the money is spent on and whether you believe it's justified the FACT is the money has been spent.

That rule was abolished before last season. It didn't make any difference, every team still fielded more than enough U23 players.

Are these annual reports available online? I certainly can't seem to track them down if they are?! (mind you i'm no computer wiz) The Pennant Hills web site has thier reports avialable but only up till 04' and i can't see the ECE reports online at all. Where is everyone sourcing these 'Facts'... Just saying that they are there does not really make your collective points. I'm not saying that any of these claims are necessarily false..... But i would like a little more SUBSTANTIAL proof than just taking your word for it.

Further to my last post, it would be good if all clubs made thier annual reports available on thier web site. Not just to settle the petty arguments of RWO forum members, but simply for the interest of the Sydney footy public. As has been stated before, it is a requirement for all clubs to make thier financial reports available publicly. It would be good if all clubs did this on their respective web sites.

                      William Wallace,

These Annual reports are not available online (to my knowledge).

I'm sure that once you become a member of the respective club they would be more than happy to supply you with your copy of the Annual Report. My guess is that most club are not financially viable enough to produce copies (at will) just in case someone wants to check up on the clubs expenditure.

It would be interesting to here from a supporter/member of each of the SAFL clubs as to the standard / contents / quality / existance/etc of their clubs annual report

What did your SAFL club annual report contain William Wallace? Did it have financial figures that you could share with us on this thread?

                        Gambler,

My club is the Premiership winning Swans. Thier annual report contained all the necessary financial information that is required of a sporting club.

I could post the numbers on here but that would be a touch inappropriate as this is the NSW/ACT Footy Forum.

Now i must be off... Some guy who calls himself Robert or The Bruce or something is trying to convince me to unite the clans. When really all i'm after is FREEDOM!
