Whatever the grade or venue may be, my personal opinion is that it is disrespectful to sing the song on the ground. I think it smacks of rubbing the opposition's nose in it. I cringe when some of our grades do it (granted, not that often this year). Save it for the sheds I reckon (a GF win excepted).

Monty I have played for 20 years in Sydney and singing the song on the ground has always been the case - and regardless of what UTS may think they seem to have had no problem doing it at Rosedale in the past.

Fair enough Tara, was just my opinion. I have played in Sydney for 14 years and it is very rare in premier divison - perhaps why it rubs me up the wrong way when I see it done - not used to seeing it.

we sung the song in the sheds tara on saturday.
whether it be away or at home we sing the song either in the sheds or at home in the shipping container we have as a room. i dont care if its a teams bottom side or their top side we will always sing the song inside. i think its a little disrespectful.

If you believe it is disrespectful, why should the same 'disrespect' be shown on the biggest day of the year.

Disgraceful stuff by UTS. Used to have respect for them but things seem to be changing a lot at the Bats.

In saying that, last time they beat us at Greygums, their "song" commenced as they left the field...and continued in the sheds.

PS: Notice that the Bats notes in the record are a week behind ! Still shook up by hearing another song sung at Trumper , eh

Since they have achieved the ultimate goal, I don't think any reasonable person would see that as a sign of disrespect to sing it after a GF win. Again, just my opinion.

Monty we nearly folded our club four years ago and it has been a lot of hard work by a number of people that have seen us move forward - as mentioned clubs I have been involved in have always sung on the field but over the last four years we have almost always moved close to the fence near where our supporters/support people are - its our of thanking them and including them in our celebration.

Hell, they start that "hooting" bit until the song breaks out in full when they reach the sheds. Hopefully we don't hear it in a couple of weeks.

What is so different after a Swans game when the club song is played over the PA at the SCG after they win (sure, they sing it again in the sheds)

The players don't actually sing it on the field after they win - they wait for the privacy of the sheds.

If we got more than 1 man and his dog at our games, I may have a different opinion of where to sing the song as an expression of our appreciation for the support. "Fortunately" our supporter can fit in the changerooms with us and swing his dog.

Regardless of tradition, it's up to the club that wins when and how they sing their song. We've had more losses than wins I reckon over the last 10 years, and Moorebank/SWS & Penriff were in a similar position, so any chance to sing it gets taken with no intention of 'offending' the other team.
For all the times I've heard the opposition sing their songs over the years, be it in the centre, on the boundary or in the sheds, I'm sure the furthest thing from their minds would be whether they are upsetting their hosts or guests.
And why should one club I won't name (Starts with a U and ends in TS Bats) dictate to others, as has been the case with my club last year, and clearly with Moorebank this year? Smacks of arrogance, or even lack of knowledge of the local footy environment?

Nah, we are the opposite, Pekay. Been getting floggings for a few years now. They are learning the song this year though....

What a crack up. Poor UTS puppies dont like it when they lose and the other team sings the song on the ground. As far as I can remember over all the years of playing / watching footy in Sydney teams have belted out the song on the ground and no one ever cared good luck to them they won. You lose you suck it up, you win you sing it loud and proud ...arm in arm on the ground again in the sheds even on the bus who cares! My advice to all clubs after beating UTS, sing it on the ground it really annoys them lol, if your lucky you may see a few of them tear up or better still give you 'the look'. Very Soft UTS, harden up.

Not as good as an U/16's team recently who actually sang their song despite losing would you believe!

And they made sure they did it on the ground before the victors had sung theirs.

This particular team had been comfortably undefeated up until that point, so I'm baffled as to why but can only assume it was a sign of disrespect given the way that they'd carried on throughout the match.

                                Unbelievable........
