Show Us Your Tips - Round 1

The long off-season is finally behind us, and it's time to focus on the season ahead. A season that promises much, and will surely deliver some surprises and the making and breaking of expectations.

Rules for the tipping comp are similar to previous seasons:
    * Enter tips for each Premier Division match.
    * Cut-off time for each game is the scheduled start time for the game.
    * Scoring is one point for each win correctly tipped, half a point for an unselected draw and two points for a picked draw.
    * Any tipster who misses a week will be given the lowest score for the round.
    * Any tipster who tips for the first time in round 2 or a later round will receive the lowest score for the round for each round until they began tipping.
    * Any tipster who misses part of a week (eg a round with some Saturday and some Sunday games where only posted on the Saturday night with the Sunday tips) will be given the higher of the lowest score for the round or the total of the games successfully picked.
    * Any tipster who misses 3 weeks in a row will be eliminated. Should an eliminated poster tip again in a later round it will be at my discretion whether to re-instate them, if re-instated will receive the lowest score for each round missed.
    * If RWO suffers technical problems preventing some posters from entering their tips, those who missed out on the opportunity to tip will be given the average score for the round.
    * If you change your mind about a tip, enter a new post rather than editing a previous post.
    * Any post that has been edited after the first game for the round has started will be ignored and treated as if it had not been posted.
    * Should any other issues arise, I'll make up the rules as I go along.

I'll start a new thread each Tuesday during the season and update the tipping ladder. If, for some reason, I haven't started the new thread by Tuesday evening, tips will be accepted on a new thread that someone else starts.
If you're going to be away from a computer for a few weeks and want to post tips for future rounds in advance, that's OK - they'll be accepted and transferred to the thread for that round when it happens.

Easts by 6-8 Goals, Have recruited well and should be too good.
Blues by 8 Goals, See above
Uni by 8-10 Goals, Dragons have lost plenty, hope im wrong but should struggle
Penno by 4 Goals, the juggernaught continues and the money boys fall short again
Wests by 8-10 Goals, should be bid improvers in 09, need to be considering who they have recruited
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

Bombers v Bulldogs: Bulldogs look one of the teams to beat and should win comfortably. Dogs by 35 points
Dockers v Blues: I've got no idea about this one, but I'm going out on a limb compared to the others here. Dockers by 10 points.
Dragons v Students: It will be interesting to see how the return to red and white affects the home team. They appear to have lost a fair bit, but they might surprise a few here. Dragons by 15 points.
Demons v Eagles: Another chance for the Eagles to try and shrug off that hoodoo, especially after watching the Dees unveil the flag. I reckon the Ern boys might just inflict a little more pain. Demons by 13 points
Magpies v Lions: The Pies are the buzz team of the off-season and I think they'll start with a comfortable win. Magpies by 37 points *Fox Sports Channel 518 Match of the Round, Thursday, April 9, 6.30pm - NOTE THE CHANGE OF TIME

and for an extra point, two lower grade teams to forfeit their first match and be unlikely to field sides for entire season.

Great to have you guys back on telly again this season. Friday night as a lead-in to the live AFL coverage should be good publicity for our comp. I was certainly impressed with the positive preview program they showed before the Carlton v Richmond game last Thursday.
