After watching the Sharks smash Balmain 203 - 0, dont you think that is somewhat of a mismatch?

Must've been players short, or something must've happened because that result is a disgrace.

The only thing I can think of, is they must've had an extra player on the pitch with a minute to go and their score get reset. Surely there is some excuse!
I've seen Balmain's 2's in action and they aren't as bad as that. They have a fair bit of talent there. But that result, that's is a fair dinkum shellacking.
Not sure what's worse, getting 200 kicked against you, or not being able to manage a lonely solitary point. Not even a behind, that's terrible.

The club should be ashamed and embarrassed with a scoreline like that.

Ken, Balmain had 19 players - they lost one with a broken colarbone in the first quarter and a couple of others were stuggling early in the second but no the scores didnt get zero'd out. The team they put on the paddock on the weekend would have been belted by most D3 sides.

19 players named...... tough against a juggernaut like Power in that Div.

So presuming they still had 18 on the field I still find it hard to fathom. Especially at Gwawley, they can only come through the guts.

Wow, 48 scoring shots to Nil. They had a shot at goal every every 2 mintues, (including bringing the ball back to the middle!!!), for the whole game.

I think we played them into form the week before! Fritsch is a weapon full forward, great set of hands, but I'll still give the No 1 spot to Thain, he never misses, hands like a vice. Pretty handy having the ball given on a platter from a gun midfield too.

Big Salem Kassem brought up the 100 on the weekend. Think he can add an Armstrong to his Snow and Kealey.

I think premiers up, spoon down, keep it simple. No matter what div. As for the grounds, who cares. A club going up a div might pressure the council to help them out + get the AFL to step up some pressure on the Clubs behalf. For 4th div, I'd rather see that split in two and encourage new teams along to try and keep 4th & a new 5th at 8 teams each. Wether they are new clubs or teams entering extra grades doesn't really matter.

Pekay, Penno are moving next year and by all reports will be playing their new venue by round 3 or 4.
Power are also getting close to a move.

This is the comment that grabbed me the most and it hasn't drawn any feedback. SHH, tell us what you know about this. I didn't even realise Penno was looking elsewhere, although I do know they weren't happy with not being allowed to build coaches boxes and a commentary box on top of the clubrooms a couple of years ago.

BMR, Penno's website stated that they will be moving to Mike Kenny Oval as of next year. The article seems to have disappeared now though. Currently the junior side, Westbrook play there. The ground is certainly big enough for senior football, and the surface is generally pretty good. Facilities are lacking, but there are proposed extensions to that, including two new change rooms. From memory they were talking about new lighting as well to allow for twilight matches. I'll certainly be happy to never go to Ern Holmes Oval again, although they did say they will retain the rights from council to play one match a year at the Ern, and I can just guess who they will choose to play their "Back to Penno Day" against every year...

Not sure if the final decision's been made, but Penno are looking at leaving Ern Holmes and going to a new oval in Cherrybrook. The new venue from all reports has a better surface and lights.
Ern Holmes has character, but the Demons haven't been happy with the state of the surface and the number of times gaves have had to be moved from there. And every time a game is moved, it costs the club money - canteen takings are always down at rescheduled games.

Things can change quickly. A couple of months ago we were all ready to relegate Balmain from Premier Division after they got belted by East Coast at Drummoyne. But they've managed to bounce off the canvas and win a couple of games to get off the bottom.

In the Under 18s, I think Campbelltown should go down to Challenge Cup. It may be easier to find players if they were more likely to be competitive. And if Balmain are to field an Under 18s team next year, I'd also be inclined to put them in Challenge Cup. If Penrith win Challenge Cup, and at the moment they're undefeated with an imposing percentage, I think they'd have earned the right to go up.

Would be great to see Penno on one of the leafy suburban cricket grounds up that way. A cursory glance across Sydney grounds, and there's a mix of Grade and Shires cricket venues being used.

Alan Davidson is another used in the past, would be great to see senior footy played there again. Others named such as ELS Hall (too small) Blacktown Olympic, that have be used in the past.

Imagine Penriff being allowed to play on Howell Oval (maybe now Stu has a bit of political clout?) Southern Power on Tonkin Park by the sea at Cronulla, St George on Hurstville Oval. Although I despise cricket ovals and their tough centres, they still look a treat and get looked after.

St George looked at Hurstville Oval a couple of years ago, but nothing came of it. Even if they took the bike track out, it would probably still be too small. But as Pekay said, the surfaces on the cricket grounds are often better.
