Generally, a team that plays under the same club umpire week in and week out is at an advantage over their opponents simply for the fact that they know what the umpire looks for. I have seen some club umpires torture their own team at times. Whether it is because they don't want to appear biased or not we'll never know. Have quite often seen a bad decision at one end "evened" up when it gets to the other end.

I have seen some very "manipulative" or "creative" club umpiring last year especially in 18's CC

Some club umpires will give their own club the critical fee kicks in the important zones

in the forward 50 and the defensive 50 to have influence on games

Then the home club umpire gives frees in the centre of the ground and a few "charities"

late in the game to even up the count to make it look good when their own club has already won

I know I will be criticised for this statement , but the truth can hurt

And Barry must have learnt his cheap shot tactics from his former club. When do you allege he did these dreadful things that horrify you so much?
He couldn't get a kick with us back in 05/06 based on the fact we had 40 odd for one team, that's why he left. I reckon he played less than 4 games for us in that time. I believe he was a Hawkesbury player before that, before my time at Bensons.

I have alot of time for John, but have watched him hit blokes so late- both when I was playing against him and when I umpired at Greygums last year- to the point his own team mates started abusing him. I believe he spent the rest of both games, this year and last, on the bench as a result.

As for mountains' comment, this is an open forum, where opinions get thrown around like rice at a wedding. That was my last opinion on Mark's umpiring. Hats off to him for doing it, and everyone who has done it, it's no easy job.

An interesting stat in CC this year. One team has scored 6 goals against Penrith (3 in each game). All six came from 50's given by their club umpire. Saw the first game and none were warranted. Didn't see the second one

So it's your opinion that this bloke has no integrity. That would basically make him a cheat then, is that right?

Heroic call to make about someone when hiding behind the security of an internet forum.

Also I think youll find Roscoe is referring to the same umpire.

There are very few people that have the guts to put their name to their comments on here. The only ones that have their proper nickname as their forum name are myself and Rafters. So don't talk to me about hiding behind anonymity on here. Put your name to your comments or stop being a hypocrite.
As I said-its my opinion, he may have changed his style of umpiring this year, this is my opinion from last year and previous. If you don't like it, stop reading.

That's a bit weird, putting your real nic here. I actually put my real name in, thought everyone did. Ken, Tara, Norris, Short, Mat, Mahatma etc etc

I'd only be a hypocrite if I also started naming individual club umpires as having no integrity. But I haven't.

There's nothing wrong with staying anonymous on an internet forum incidentally, or even being known for that matter, as long as you don't start sniping real people. Then it becomes an issue, because more often than not those people aren't even aware of the comments or have no real means of redress.

Anyway, if this bloke's umpiring is such an issue for you (which it must be, as you have all but called him a cheat in labelling him as having "no integrity"), why even bring it up here? Aren't there more appopriate channels for addressing matters like this?

If Mark could actually read he'd be loving this.......

At the end of the day I think we all factor in a slight bias from the clubbies as much as they try to be objective, not too many I've seen that are any worse than that (although SHH's 50m happy mate does stand out).

And Colesy, my original response was fairly tongue in cheek mate, but if I've been reeled in by the master, so be it!

Dont worry the only thing that would have made this thread funnier would have been doormat but now that Pekay is back on his medication Doormat appears to be in remission

The happy 50 metre umpire was part of the Nor-West Alliance, so it was to be expected
