it's probably time to regionalise the bottom 2 comps (div 4 & new 5)
After all it's only social footy . Would make it easier for clubs to fill teams if games are localised.
One covering North West and the other southeast. both premiers into div 3 and 2 relegated back to the district comp.
So what if a club has 2 teams in the comp. It's about participation at this level which would also provide a soft entry for any new club.
It's common sense and we are in the 21 st century though some would argue that. Our club would Probably keep some of it's retiring players if was made easier for them but Family and other commitments don't allow the full day of Footy which is demanded now for lower grades when traveling away. the travel is just unnecessary for social footy.

I think I understand what your saying but to be honest that would suit the strong inner city clubs more than anyone else. Its just as easy and quicker in most instances for my guys to travel to SU, UNSW MU and Cronulla than it is to travel to NW, Penrith, Penno, ECE yet if your suggestion was to come to fruition I know we'd be lumped in the NW comp.

Pentrith or yourselves to Pittwater, and vice a versa, is 2 Sydney metropolitan teams against each other.
I'm all for the idea if they entered at the top, and club's strongest team were making the trip, but too demanding for clubs 2's to travel to Gosford.
IF they entered Div 3 at the start of this year I'm sure Moorebank would have travelled there and given it it's all.
But if they had entered Div 4, can you honestly say that you would have managed to get a full ressies team up to Gosford?

Tara I would have moorebank in the Sth side by the way.
The other option is 3 comps of 6 or 7.. central north/ west /south
As long teams get a local game 14 or 15 times a year, who cares.
leave the serious stuff For Div 3 up.
it's about participation at this level and any aspiring club will have every opportunity to get to Div 3 if they want.
the Saturday afternoon Sydney cross town traffic is a discouragement for many not so serious players in lower grades.
need to cater for everyone I think as one size doesn't fit all.
it would help a lot of clubs with playing numbers

Mate the only time we struggled for numbers was the Manly game - Seniors played at 10am at Bruce Purser, ressies at 10.30 at Pittwater and 18's at 8.30am at Pittwater. That particular day affected to club badly as rather than the usual number of guys unavailable due to the early start as they are tradies we also had a very large contingent unavailable due to having to perform in a "Freedom" march in Liverpool which saw only 10 senior with me and only 13 ressies players at Manly - Had the games been later in the day ie ususal starting time I would have had my full squad and not have had to rape ressies.

Honest opinion normally yes no prob - put it this way I live in the Hills area and would rather make the trip to Gosford than Pittwater, far easier drive.

You'd have us there but I doubt the league would - they have rezoned Bankstown GWS despite huge condemnation from the participants and parents.

PS - are you saying that Nor West have been promoted from Div 2 to Div 1 after coming 3rd?
Or did I read that wrong?
                Cheers
I typed it wrong mate, I meant Div 2, and we used to travel there. Bit early for us to be in Div 1 I think!

                  Interesting Rumour regarding Gosford.

At first grade level they have never even played in a BDAFL finals series, so really they would be Div 3 at best. Unfortunately for the BDAFL there is 3-4 good teams and the rest don't even look to be competitive. The rumour i've heard about the Gosford club is that they are close to folding and the coach got the boot.

Chook didnt get the boot he decided not to continue to to the lack of numbers and support, the club still wanted him to coach again in 2011.

No he never applied so was never in consideration. We will be making announcements shortly regarding coaches just waiting for everyone to return from holidays.

One rumour right, a good appointment as club struggled in recent years and someone from outside will bring some new ideas thoughts and maybe players into fold.

Be interesting off season with coaches moving some staying, and what players will end up else where. Will proposed northern league make player think about going places and will this new proposed league have any ramifications to clubs with personel etc.

I think the league has a interesting few seasons ahead with proposed changes.

Rod Craig will be missed. Taking Shane Demir with him. Mudge will be good pickup after success with UNSWES if it is true.
