Gosford AFC putting forward a request to join the Sydney AFL in 2012. Also in the request is to move their games to Hylton Moore oval and have Terrigal Avoca play out of Adcock Park. You read it here first.

I like that. It'd be good to add Central Coast and possibly even Newcastle alongside Wollongong to make the competition truly a State league. Travel from both ends will obviously be significant, but not much beats a bus trip home from the footy, especially with four points in the luggage. Good luck to Gosford in their bid.

Seriously? I could be wrong (has happened before), but have Gosford had much (any??) success up there - ever? I even thought they were struggling to field teams a couple of years ago and particularly found it difficult to get numbers together to make the trip up the F3 for the Newcastle games.

Perhaps it was Peter Free's idea.

                Is he still coaching there?

Chook is not coaching Gosford next year and this is the first he has heard of it.

                    Cheers mate, interesting.

I'm not sure how keen clubs are to undertake even more travelling, it's a fair hike for many to Gosford.

Even if there is a team from up there come in and sure there is distance, one trip a year to there ground surely people cant whinge about that, the Gosford club itself would be one more disadvantaged as they would travel every second week?

We travel to Wollongong (Well, used to, maybe again this year in Div 1) Manly and Cronulla from Richmond, don't really think another road trip would make a difference, and like Purse said, it will only be once a year. Having not seen Gosford run around for a few years, you'd expect them to go for Div 2, or 3 would be a better fit, I may be wrong in saying that, but I don't think they're quite with the top 4 teams up there. I reckon let them in for the good of footy, the BDAFL isn't in very good nick these days.

Would have worked in the old structure but not now. Not good enough for Prem or Div 1. If they enter Div 2 or 3, that means that in most opponents cases it will involve their clubs ressies making the treck. Way to much of a drain to expect club's ressies to head up to Gosford, even if it's once a year.

Mate not advoating this becuase I cant see it happening but if its good enough for Penrith or Ourselves (even Camden if they get an 18's off the ground) to travel to Pittwater an play at 8.30am on Anzac day I cant see the problem.

Agreed. Seems the smaller clubs are more willing to do the hard stuff (volunteers, travel etc) than the bigger ones. Sure, its a bloody long trip to have a kick, but no different than the trip to Towradgi for us.

PS - are you saying that Nor West have been promoted from Div 2 to Div 1 after coming 3rd?
Or did I read that wrong?
