I tend to agree. I didn't hear the conversation with any Balmain people, and the Balmain people would have their sources, who had their sources, and like any game of Chinese whispers the truth may have got lost somewhere along the line.......

But I doubt Sydney Uni would have given any of their under 18s $60 a game. They have blokes in their senior team getting less than that.

As a general rule, you can safely assume any rumours about under 18s being offered coin are bull@@@@.

Also another fact, Balmain has had "their pathway" all to themselves in 2009 and 2010 and long before so whilst it might be convenient to look at another club's program for excuses, it would be just that, an excuse, if anyone was truly peddling that line from the club, which I doubt. I'm sure Balmain will be just fine at all levels when they can get some momentum going with a bit of success on the field and continuity off it. I wish them all the best.
I am very disappointed Jupiter, Please take your facts and actual events to the Bring out your facts about player payments string.

Not true. If any approach has been made to anyone it would not have been in an official capacity. The current committee is outgoing and no decisions on coaching appointments will be made until after the AGM.

What did you study, by the way? I'm assuming you went to uni given your intimate knowledge of the job market for graduates.

According to Club web sites there are plans for 5 new teams being entered 2011 season
Manly, Moorebank,Saints and Norths all indicating entering additional senior teams and Norwest with under 18 plans.
Are there any others or new Clubs in the wind?

When you are sayings "SAINTS" please refer to them as maroubra

                      Saints are St George.

Good luck to all clubs trying to introduce new teams

Norwest 18's - with Penno and ECE being so strong in 18's and Macquarie doing well in CC the game

is progressing in them thar hills !

Good luck to all clubs trying to introduce new teams
According to Sydney AFL website's results and ladders, St George are the Dragons; and Maroubra are known as Saints AFC.

But it's good news that more teams are looking to come in. The proposed new teams may not all happen - some clubs are still working out their numbers, and making sure they'll have enough to field the extra team. They won't go ahead if they're a risk of forfeiting every second week by late in the season. But we're a good chance of seeing some extra teams next season.
If more people are playing the game than did previously, then someone must be doing something right.

Sounds like the mooted Division 5 might definitely be a goer if this is the case.

Fingers crossed. A 14 team grade is not suitable, especially when it's only a top four. Good teams miss the finals with good records, and that includes your twos DLH.

I'm hearing that a Division 5 competition may be truncated into about 12 rounds with breaks for school holidays etc to cater for the social/semi serious type player who is perhaps a little older and has a family.

More the merrier in my view, should give clubs another avenue to offer potential players who may have been put off for reasons of ability, experience or time factors in the past.

Perhaps Div 4 and 5 might consist of eight teams each assuming that at least a couple will move up from Div 4 this year under the new structure with 11 teams in Premier Division and Division One.

And 11 in Premier Cup, one would hope, to even it all up
