I just noticed UNSW have not been relegated from Division 1 though they came last. I realise the league has the power to promote or relegate who they want but seriously this has to be a joke considering the guidelines they presented. I would be filthy if I was St George as I assume they were forced to drop a division. IMO the whole guidelines to the promotion-relegation system must be offically scrapped and clubs should be notified that the system is not based on merit but what suits the league.

Div 2 is essentially the equivalent of the old SFA First Grade.
So Penrith, Parra, Nor-West and Moorebank are back together in the competition they competed unsuccessfully in (with a couple of exceptions) for many years. Add in Camden and Auburn, it makes six Western Sydney clubs in all, all fielding their top sides.
Add in the second and/or third sides of four other clubs and it should make for a very interesting competition, particularly with the long-term rivalry among the Western Sydney sides, which goes back a fair way in some instances.Comment

Disagree strongly about scrapping promotion/relegation. It's working !Comment

The possiblility of the PD relegation thing I believe is subject to a number of things and infact could lead to the possibility of another sport opening up as well. At the end of the day I think it will all come down to the success or not of this new northern league.Comment

I re-iterate, with no allegiance, or personal dislike toward the Gong, but they?re inclusion in the TOP 2 divs is a bit of a ?hows a goin?.
They will come bottom of both division, it?s obvious. ONE win in either grade is the best. It?s friggin November and we all realistically know that 2 to 3 wins MAX is an emphatic season for them, before a ball is bounced in pre-season.
This is a massive injustice to every sherrin holding human between Melbourne and the equator.
Can anyone argue that the geographical situation of Wollongong is not their best asset? Besides their beautiful hurricane breeding ground, and that picturesque drive down ?Mount Uuuuusley?, I think it?s fair to say their geographical status, is/has been/will be, their ace of spades.
If so why does Ken argue? Because can we please have a normal system where the deserved rewards are applied to the deserved teams.
The Gong? Div 2 & 3 is competetive for them. Prem & 1? Not right.
Again, I sympathise with their ?situation?, but they?ve given the population of the Gong, they have access to more potential players, especiallty with the patriotic segregation card, so to be given a ?joker? card and an automatic card bugs me.
Again, no personal issue with the club, just the preferential treatment towards ?reacjing the desired AFL merket?. UGH.Comment

Put some basic minimum standards re grounds in place and let the cream rise to the top.
I've said it before but the VAFA should be the model long term for Sydney AFL, if we could get promotion-relegation ona two team basis happening here that would be brilliant....Comment

St George were not in Div 1 last year. They finished 7th with five wins in Div 2. With a good bunch of juniors coming through, imagine they will be well and truly in finals contention this year. As Pekay said, I agree it should be a very competitive comp. Strangely enough, it contains just one Uni team. Being made up mainly of "Western Sydney" clubs, all of whom have had chequered pasts in the last ten years, it will certainly re-ignite some old rivalries. Six clubs fielding their firsts side, three sides with their seconds side and Sydney Uni with their thirds.
