Whatever you think of Balmain, Sudney Uni coming in and making Balmain's 100+ year home their own stinks...

Balmain should go back to the SFA equivalent and start again from the juniors. Sydney Uni not squatting in their home would also not be a bad idea.

You can imagine what the response would be if a club approached SUSA about playing on their sacred turf.

I imagine that like Canada Bay, SUSF would make their decision based on availability and cost.

I'd bet anything they've been forced there Mug, so that the flimsy NEAFL players don't have to fall on the wicket or deal with a different shaped ground. Not going to help SU build a NEAFL club (they battle rugby constantly for access to grounds, probably one of the harder battles that goes on in local footy for venues) I reckon and agree its poor for Balmain - anyone know why they don't play there themselves as much now? I agree with the rest of your post - build it up again slowly (or let it die if that's destiny) instead of the ridiculous yearly merry go around which is an embarassment - bad for junior area, sucks good players (with unrealistic payment scheme for Prem Div footy) then coughs them out of sydney footy, unbalances the senior comp every year etc.

It was a financial decision by the club basically costed to much cant train on it tues/thurs due to rugby and poor lighting. With them moving to Henson/marrickville and being known as the Sydney Dockers (Balmain )Syd uni have taken three to four of there top players and there ground as well now.And UTS up and flying the inner west has been lost to Balmain.Even Wests now has three senior grades and 18s.they need to lose the premier div spot and give it to parramatta or southern power strong clubs with strong futures.Balmain should be in Div1 and Div3 immediately and start the club again from scratch new board new managers and most of all new attitude/culture.

Agree 100%, be the community club based on locals (lots of inter-staters live in Balmain/Drummoyne/Rozelle), pump their money into junior development and a minor academy.

In the late 90, early 00s Balmain didn't pay their players but all their fundraising, beyond that required to keep the club viable, went into an end of season trip that also involved an overseas AFL game. I believe all players got subsidised the same amount. What a brilliant way to run a community club. Get rid of the big time charlies and get proper Balmain football people involved and they may have a club in 5 years to be proud of. Or, progressive clubs like Sydney Uni and UTS will kill them off.

It would be a tragedy to see this proud club go to the wall but if they do they will only have themselves to blame. Footy clubs tend to be pretty resilient beasts and I trust that the Tiger cream will rise to the top.

The tiger faithful are all long gone for years the tigerland faithfull have fought for their club, crying out for some input some respect but to empty ears. They will not draw back any past players to the club due to the bitter taste that still lingers.do you think the Saddington schimdts Todd napper and the four new additions to syd uni would go running back,or maybe ask the guys that went back to WA.Its a ghost ship running on the ambitions of a few dislusional men.

Where are you playing this year BIGSHOW? Hope you enjoy your footy in 2013, would be sad to end your playing with that bitter taste.

Sounds like a sad sad club.....

Balmain going to Henson was financial. Drummoyne costs twice as much as Henson. It's a shame - I always used to love doing match reports at Drummoyne. Interesting that Sydney Uni are playing their NEAFL games at Drummoyne but everything else at No 1.

I've been out of town a fair bit lately and aren't completely back in the loop yet. A few interesting clearances but there's plenty more interesting ones to come.

Good to have you back Norris. There's been some pretty freakie stuff written on this forum lately - might be best if you don't back-read too much of it !
Look forward to more from you.

Bigshow - nothing worse than an ex disgruntled player airing his grievances on a public forum IMHO. If you are leaving then leave with some dignity pal.

Well said Tim. As a player the "Big Show" was a "No Show" on the field. Losing any credibility as a good bloke with his comments as his footy is better suited to Div 3/4.

At no point have I said that I was a good player nor was I any better than below average. If you where any kind of a man you to would warn other players about the total exploitation of players at Balmain have you had the phones calls asking where's my money or I can't pay my mortgage I don't think so mate. Why don't you do your research about why they only trained once a week until a certain date.Disgruntled no I'm way past that to have a club president attack my lack of attendance at the Camden game in front of the playing group whilst my father struggles against cancer and a pregnant wife ten days over due.is that exceptable.the lack of coming forward with money owing and broken agreements has to be made public so the next generation don't get done over by this club. And for the record I never recieved a single cent nor asked for it.wait until some of your players fall into there web.
