Watched St.George for the first time last weekend and I was very impressed with them. They totally dominated NS in that 1st quarter and then hit cruise control for the rest of the game. They have a very strong spine with multiple options up forward that will make them very hard to beat. Saddington, Ryan & Swain all worked well together and I cant see many sides being able to match up on them. That was the first time I had seen Swain and he is a very handy player. They still had a few out as well which means they will only get better with Declan the main one missing.

I have seen Manly once this year and I really cant see them getting anywhere near St.George this week. They have done an outstanding job to finish on top at the end of the H&A but finals in prem div on a big ground will be a very different story.

I'm tipping a St.George v Penno GF this year and Mudge may just deliver on his 3 year plan that he communicated when he took over.

He may or he may choke again... he has been involved with losing a few.

Sorry, secret. Check out clearances in Feb 2014.

Just stuff on the grapevine at the moment, with a few going back to their home soil....and probably a few going Blacktown if they can snare DO jobs

Well done to Manly in a couple of other areas. Canteen in finals been fantastic. They put on a good feed indeed.

And great to hear that they are fielding a women's team next year.

You and and everyone else in the league has kept writing us Wolves off. We absolutely love it, Keep it coming, it's awesome.

Hopefully by the end of today, you'll see why we won the Minor Premiership in not only Prem Div but also Div 2 AND our 18's.

              Go Wolves.

Dr Jonestown, "everybody else in the league" wrote them off?. I go back to a post I made last November on the rumours thread.

                My response was:
I think if players want to play 18'as Div 1, there will be no problems as they can go where they like if listed by both. On the other hand, I wonder if Manly will apply to go to Div 1, which makes the draw a lot clearer.

From what I have seen, Manly will be quite competitive in PD. I think it will hurt North Shore a lot.

You have never tipped them on here, Doc. Until a week after they won the minor premiership.

I eagerly await your post to tip us the Melbourne Cup winner....on or about the second Tuesday in November.

Wow - just joined the forum and that is your first post? LOL.

It's amazing how many Manly people come out of the woodwork just before a grand final. I have seen it for 2 decades and they hide under a rock when they're not winning. At a previous grand final in Blacktown, it got very close to a brawl thanks to some tarts with big mouths supporting Manly.

Congratulations to Manly on your results this year and introducing the game to women in 2014. It's a shame you have a few idiot supporters in your ranks that tarnish your outstanding on-field results.

You don't need a long neck to be a goose.

They've always had a particularly unpleasant supporter element in that club, coupled with a very strong sense of entitlement as a club overall.

I've been to their home ground a few times over the years and the feral abuse coming from that little grandstand, directed squarely at the visiting club, was disgraceful and classless. Certainly far worse than anything else I have witnessed around the traps.

So it looks like things haven't changed.

Having said that, they have done magnificently this season. And good luck to them for the flag, you can't say they don't deserve it if they win.

It might help if they don't get ahead of themselves though, as they did a particular GF in the 90s when they were aiming at (I think) their third flag in a row. Their t-shirts that day jumped the gun somewhat. Needless to say, they lost.

I agree wholeheartedly with the abuse you would have seen however over the past few years they have worked pretty hard to clean up that side of things and from my perspective they are nowhere near as bad as years gone by.

hehehehe I'm sorry, I've been playing for this great club for the last 10 years, so I'm not really a fan who's come out of the woodwork. I'm sorry if you feel we don't treat you with the respect, but when you come down to the Wolves Den, expect some unpleasantness (all in good humor I might add).

We are very happy to be the best club in Sydney at the moment and putting plans in place to make that happen for the next decade and more.

We don't pay any of our players $$ like St.George have to do and what Balmain did or offer scholarships, we did it the hard way and will continue to do it the hard way because that's the way we like to do it.

But at the start of the year, many experts wrote us off, you may have been an exception to the rule and yet people still underrate us. Basically we love proving people wrong and will continue to do that.

I like this site and I'm glad there is a Sydney AFL forum. All in good fun people, relax don't get all uptight. But be rest assured The Mighty Wolves aint going away for a looooonnggg time.

Watched Manly for the 2nd time this season and was pleasantly surprised. They have a few class players that I hadn't seen much of before and if it wasn't for bad kicking they would have beaten St.George comfortably by 6+ goals. I think the end scoreline flattered a pretty average Saints performance.

Stroud, Koch & Armitage were all very impressive and Armitage should have kicked 4 in the last to ice the game.

Saints midfield really struggled IMO and they showed that they liked to run hard forward but not as hard back. I kept hearing the "buzz term" 2 way running coming from their bench but they must have been yelling at Manly because they were the only side working hard both ways. (No doubt Mudgy will print this out and put it on their noticeboard to create the "us against" the rest of the world mentality that he loves.)

As for Manly supporters, I didn't really notice them being any better or worse than St.George. As a neutral I hardly noticed them at all.

Well done Manly for making the GF. I don't mind admitting I was wrong.

PS Dr Jonestown: You are not the BEST side in the Sydney AFL just yet. You need a medal around your neck first before you can claim that title. All you have done is give yourself the best opportunity.
