Yeh its very handy. All the new blokes are real good. My captain/coaching career got off to a good start in div 4 today. Helpful when 3 of the boys played v penno in that final in prems last year.

Come on Saviour don't downplay your coaching success. I'm certainly not down playing mine!

UTS, while they play out of Trumper is about as Eastern Suburbs as Brighton, Carlton, Glenelg or Subiaco - where all of their players come from (not a crack at UTS - just the facts). ES/UNSW is the Eastern Suburbs club - its where the best East Juniors go to play (who also play out of Trumper) and the best Maroubra kids go.

Easts is unfortunately going through a period where they are not attracting a lot of Vic / SA / WA players, as they did when they won the flag 4 years ago - BUT - IMO they are following a St George / Penno model of connecting with the local junior clubs. I can ES/UNSW being a powerful club in 5 years when all of those Maroubra kids start coming through and developing. They will then be much more of a true footy club than the come and go players"" at UTS (again to not a Crack but a fact).
Mug Punter and others are not giving enough credit to UTS. It was not a matter of Easts moved away and UTS captured the market. UTS have created their own brand.

Trumper did become available for UTS at the right time, but if not for UTS it could have been lost to Soccer or Rugby. Now the Bats are playing many games at Waverley Oval and helping convert more green space for the AFL. Why did Easts not have the vision to go for Waverley Oval in 2000?

The Bats in essance have two great markets. Young men from Ireland and expats from Adelaide. The Bats are fasmous among the old private school network of Adelaide and in many parts of Ireland. Around these two strong markets you get students from UTS, players from Melborne WA and NSW.

The Bats are a supreme social environment and the quality of women that come to be part of the Bats social scene is unsurpasesd. The whole of the Sydney AFL should turn up to a Bats ladies day and they will understand.

The Bats are also white collar and the job networking opportunities are amazing. You can easily find a job, a wife and premiership glory at the Bats.

The Bats have also been blessed to have great people like Roger Moten, John Colbert and many others who built the club and wanted it to be great. We now want glory in the top division.

          Go the Bats

If your mob didn't have the broader perception that you were a bunch of knobs before, well, I think you just cemented it with this blurb.

For the record, I, for one, have nothing against UTS. Tom Steinfort, Zac J and co are good blokes. We tried to get Waverley back in the day but it wasn't made available by the council. The UNSW on the other hand was keen for inclusion in the SFL and had better facilities at the time.

Despite them dishing out many a hiding over the years, they were still a decent bunch of blokes. Mints, Zac, General, some of the Irish blokes were always up for a chat afterwards. Thainy and I had a love/hate relationship. He loved kicking goals on me, which I hated, and I loved making him earn them, which he hated.

I have to go against theme, but I always found UTS a bunch of arrogant xxxx's on the field.
I am sure that like all footy clubs they are great blokes off the field, and generally nice blokes.
But in my experience my hate list goes
                                1. UTS
                                2. Manly
                                3. East Coast
                                then daylight to the rest
