was pretty ordinary, but in his defence he hasn't played a lot of footy in the past year or so.

Isn't this thread just too negative...

Where's the positive objectiveness and absence of cynicism...

Doyle did better in the 2nd half of the game, certainly showed a lot more than Chambers.

Doyle picked up a bit in the 2nd half - gotta remember he missed heaps of footy last year.

He is better than Chambers. Chambers is insurance - nothing more.

Go Doyley or should I say Doyl-o as one Unaustralian alluded to a week or so ago.

Sure a couple of times he looked slow but so did the North Rucks. His 2nd half was pretty good. A genuine bonus if he stays sound.

The more footy he plays the better he will be. Covered plenty of ground so fitness looks OK. Just a matter of touch.

I would love him to get the Norm Smith Medal when we win the 2006 flag, just to stick it up a few of RWO'ers.

I'm a bit concerned, if Doyle is our second best ruckman, we had better hope Jolly doesn't get injured. Although I do remember when Doyle was fit and playing consistently he looked better than he looked today...I mean it was just a practice match wasn't it?

Now now, that is a little selective. I believe Dermott suggested that action was the slowest thing you would see in league football, not that Doyle was the slowest thing in league football. The commentators then agreed that it appeared he didn't know the challenge was coming and it appeared nobody spoke to him (which Dermott then complained about).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

I would have thought selective, out-of-context, negative posts belong back on BigFooty...

You really shouldn't quote people out of context, or be so negative about Swans players.

Whilst I wasn't thrilled with their efforts around the ground, I thought both Doyle and Chambers were not too bad in the ruck contests. Doyle's efforts in defence during the 2nd half were not too bad either.

Nah, Doyle's OK. He'll come good.
But Cousins - now there's an ass.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Wow. Writing off players before the season proper even begins. Is this comparable writing off the Swans after Round 6 2005?
