    best 22

    how close did i get.
    come round 1 this year

    dempster barry bolton
    matthews LRT crouch
    williams ablett schneider
    okeefe goodes richards
    olouglin hall davis

    jolly bolton kirk

    buchanan malceski chambers fosdike

exciting drive off the half back line with matthew back to form
speedy wings with williams and schneider
would give goodes a huge license to roam very far and wide to provide an option at chf.
midfield rotation would include players like
    kirk
    bolton
    ablett
    williams
    goodes
    okeefe
    buchanan

Depends if you mean "best 22" or "likely team in r1".

If it is the former, Kennelly is undoubtedly there, probably at the expense of either Dempster or Malceski.

If you are talking about the latter, you could well be spot on, subject to shuffling a few players around - ie move Buchanan to Richards' spot and Richards to Dempster's spot, and Dempster to the bench.

Chambers vs Doyle is probably a 50/50 toss up at the moment.

All this is subject to elimination of an injury question mark some on here have over Richards, based on watching last weekend's game.

yeah was talking round 1 this year.

im interested to wether o'keefe gets some gametime in the midfield, could cause huge match up problems for opposition teams. remember an interview last year where roos hinted at o'keefe eventually moving in2 the midfield rotation

Not sure about O'Keefe in the midfield considering we have about 19 players on our list waiting to have a go there already.

O'Keefe is far more dangerous as a leading half forward - as evidenced by the preliminary final against St Kilda. He needs to become far more accurate in fromt of goal though.

I'd instead look to Nick Davis to spend a lot more time in the midfield. His fitness is obviously much better and the coaches say he's got the best foot skills in the club.

Hall plays CHF, not FF. Goodsey is best up the ground.

Best 22? I think Saddo was a serviceable player but I hope Laidlaw does well.

My team for round 1, injuries permitting:

FB: Crouch Barry (c) C Bolton
                  HB: Matthews LRT Richards
                  C: Fosdike Ablett Goodes
                  HF: O'Keefe Hall (c) Schneider
                  FF: Davis O'Loughlin Buchanen

                  R: Jolly J Bolton Kirk (c)

                  Int: Doyle Dempster Williams Vougals

Malceski to come in for Dempster if he does not pull up for the game.

I think Doyle is ahead of Chambers due to the fact that he can go forward and be the big target if needed. Vougals plays as the back up tall defender if either LRT, Barry or Bolton goes down or can't hold the Don's tall forwards. Richards will play the role of dashing defender with Dempster or Malceski to cover Kennelly.

Other than that the rest all play pretty well as standard from last year.

When everyone is fit makes for some interesting selection decisions.

I just love how people continue to say things like "free Goodes up to run far and wide".

The fact is he has been doing just that for his whole career.

Dont put him on the wing please. There are 21 other players there at the moment.

Put him in the centre. Put Ablett on the wing.

We should have Goodes, Kirk and J Bolton at centre bounces, with Buchanan, Williams, and Davis (and maybe Fosdike) rotating in.

                              Strictly not correct.

Roosy unsuccessfully tried him at CHB for a while.

I think when people call for Goodes to run far and wide it means not to tie him down to a key position.
