    Davis worked hard.

    24 possesions, 9 marks and 2 goals 3 behinds.

Suppose you were to make changes to the team, what changes would you make?

      IN: Doyle OUT: Chambers
      Obvious.

We should also give a couple of kids a run. Schmidt needs to make a debut. Moore must get a game. Who to drop though, who to drop?

Now we usually start seasons slowly so no alarm bells yet, but we simply must play four quarters next week. We must not lose next week because we have Carlton.

chambers out for sure, the rest deserve support for a while yet they did earn it by winning the premiership. They deserve to be cut some slack at the moment. We should be on our best by the time we play geelong.!
Theres not much left to say

I'm just hoping Roos is looking for Doyle-not-breaking-instantly before replacing Chambers permanently!

Just back from the game, Davis was very good today. They should have an "ignored leads" stat too so that those watching on television can get the true measure of how much effort he put in today that would have been off camera.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think we'll get to see value of the team and Roos over the next 7 weeks.

The questions are whether Roos is able to find a plan that works despite the new rules and interpretations and whether the players have the capability to put it into action.

My call - If they aren't a dominant team, week in week out, by the middle of the year then we've probably got a situation in which either Roos will remove himself at the end of the year (because he doesn't like the way the game is going) or we've got another 2-3 years in which he'll mould the player group to fit the "new game".

Can't believe how many times our players were run down. Are they just too slow or not communicating?

I thought about putting a bit of money on Port at $3.20 for the win, but loyalty won out. Silly me.

Willo injured himself at the 20 minute mark of the 1st quarter so was on notice (gone) for the rest of the match - apparently he did his quad according to match reports.

Leo Barry - wtf he wasn't benched after the first 50m penalty he gave away I'll never know. I sometimes wonder why they make him captain for a match - because when he does he has a Barry Crocker (today major example).

As they said on the MMM coverage, the free kicks weren't dubious it was just due to major ill-disclipined effort by the Swans.

I thought Fossie tried his heart out when he got on the field. Of course Kirky cleaning up 3 PA players was the only major highlight of the day.

It's going to be very hard trying to pick a 3-2-1 votes today for the Swans.

It took BBBH 100 minutes to register his first goal in the match. I was so tempted to throw him into the ruck since we were getting absolutely smashed everywhere but in there which led to their midfield running riot.

A lot of it looked like they weren't communicating and weren't aware of the players (of either side) around them.

Just got home from the match.

                      Game observations..

                      *Got smashed at the clearances
                      * Lacked pace or so it seemed
                      * The backman in particular B2 got flogged
                      * Struggled to run to space
                      * Forwards unprepared to work hard when Barry Hall is struggling with 3 men around him.

                      HOWEVER...

I am still prepared to grant them a loss today for less preperation time than other clubs (WC had the same I know, but I'm trying to be positive!), we are slow season starters at the best of time.

IF we lose to Carlton next week then we are suffering a hangover and may struggle in 06.

                      COME ON BOYS!!
                      Swannies for life!

Are you including O'Keefe and Davis there?

I disagree. There were a few for that, the rest were entirely up to the umpires discretion and they failed to be consistent. It's been said time and time again, if there was consistency there would be no room for grievence. Once again, they've shown that all ticky touch wood frees go against the Swans and none go for them.

                          eg.
Jolly on the wing - two players holding on to each other == non Sydney Free.

Goodes near the goal square in defence - sure he didn't look at the ball the entire time, but he knew where it was and it was his opponent that was holding him == non Sydney Free.

There were a lot more there. I shant go on as I'm sure it's already boring.

(once again, not excusing the Swans abysmal performance for 3 quarters but the umpiring in itself is hard to watch)

Looks like the biscuits didn't work Erin!!!!! What can we turn to now.

I was in despair but still watched every painful minute.

Our ball handling skills were painful to watch.
                            We were very sooky.
                            2nd to the ball

But I still love the colours of the Red and the White.

That part about MMM coverage should have said not all of them were dubious - they thought there were about 5 of the (whatever the total number PA got in the end) that were dubious. They did also mention that some of the decisions weren't going both ways, etc (which wasn't a surprise that it's Sydney after all).

In the end umpiring aside, we just played crap. I think that's the only way to really sum up the effort of the team today. Well that's the view I got from the Members Reserve area
