Not at all there Ruda. Considering how many games are still between suburban Melbourne team (these days played at either of two generic grounds), that scenario occurs every week.

It is in Adelaide where the noise is the most one-sided. There are so few away fans, especially when the Swans are over there. Often the goals are greeted with complete silence (or even boos) behind the goals. It is really strange waiting to hear the noise and see people wave flags down the other end, only to hear everyone's razzing the goalkicker hush into a weird lull.

CS has it rules for a reason(both imposed by the club and AFL), may not be everyones cup of tea.
Directing your annoyance at the CS when they have their hands tied is not the way to change things.

Ok, so what are the rules?

I'm assuming that we can't use bad language, or terms that certain creeds, colours, etc etc find offensive. That's fine. Perfectly reasonable.

But do the rules say we can only have 2 songs and are only allowed to use one word in them? and that those songs must make us sound like a bunch of school kids on sports day? And also they must make us quieter than church mice so that the Melbourne teams can look more passionate? I don't think so.

Hey, I was told off for singing "In your Toorak slums" yesterday.

The said person wished to remonstrate with me for the lines
"look in a dustbin for something to
              You'll find a dead Liberal & think it's a treat".

And you wonder why I stuck to the basic boring stuff after that. (When does the A League season start again?)

The AFL is a wit-free world these days. (Lucky there still is the great man Paul Chambers to hero-worship when things aren't going well )

Not a member of the CS this season, but AFAIK your close to the money there.
As for getting new songs introduced, it seems the CS has it songs and thats it

JF, you probably offended the Liberal voting members of the CS, Shame on you

I think at the SCG we should have two cheersquads - one at each end. I discussed this with a few people last night.

The goals at the Bradman/Noble end don't have anything behind them (except the sun!) and while the people sitting there are swans supporters, there is often just some rugs or scarves over the fence. If we got more in the way of flags and those big things (whatever they are called, the pom poms), we could cheer the boys at both ends. Not only that - the CS at the Bradman end would be alcohol fuelled and possibly noisier.

The SCG gets about 30000 people for Sydney games. About 90% of the crowd is Sydney supporters. If other teams can out-cheer us its a disgrace.

I think little songs and chants are the way to go - I've also been doing the "Go Barry Go" song to the Nicorette ad jingle, and some women at the front of the the O'Reilly do:

                  "Hallelujah, hullelujah, hallelujah,
                  Hallelejuh Amon kicked a goal"
                  (Amon being replaced with anything)

                  and

"Oh Micky you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind hey Micky *clap clap* hey Micky"

                  I mean, these aren't hard.

I think the way to go - player based songs after Sydney goals, Sydney chants after opposition goals and behinds.

Hey I'm an ideas person not an organiser! But maybe its something that someone could look into? Anyway, hopefully they wouldn't have to move, it would be more of an unofficial cheersquad and they could say whatever they liked!

If they finally move Kenny and his harem they should move in the opposing cheer squad.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Swannieserin - couldn't have put it better myself. Perfect.

A player based song when they score would fire them up to get another one - they'll be longing to hear their name sung by the masses.

Loving the ideas here - this is what it's all about and is why I made post in the first place! (not to have a moan).

Re the second cheer squad. Maybe some of the boys sitting at that end of the ground are reading this. Guys - you don't need permission to sing and chant - just start us up! We'll follow!

So it seems there are some songs out there already. So if you're sitting next to a couple of old ladies who are singing hallelujah - join in. Get the people sitting with you to join in - it will end up around the ground in no time!

Would be ideal to stick the other CS down there, hmmm maybe they should just do it
Not sure if it is a traditional thing with the CS that they sit behind the goals but where else could they move without having to re-arrange members seating, etc.
