100% Correct. I find it offensive for Cheer Squad members to be called uneducated. Being a member of the Swans Cheer Squad certainly didn't stop me from starting a job at the Victorian Department of Justice as a Magistrates Court Bench Clerk 4 days after the Grand Final win with the job interview the day I picked up my match ticket to sit with the Cheer Squad. Not bad for "un-educated Cheer Squad member".

All the bitching and moaning in here is not going to change things one bit
Countless pages and as of yet NOT one single positive idea to improve the Sydney based Cheer Squad, just insults, bitching and moaning.

I think its just fantastic to see people like the Red Barron and bec1984 come on to this forum and the first things they post,is to have a bitch about the CS.

Forget about commenting on players or games!

Lets get to the VERY IMPORTANT issues like cheersquads!Just one part of hundred parts of the game!

If you hate the CS so much, then go away, stop your moaning and start one up yourself!

Simple really and this town loves simple.

Oh and btw, don't tell me to STFU!
Well done Craig Bolton for getting the co- captaincy in 2008.

Your determination, your tenacity and your under-rated skill is why you have become my favourite player!

I disagree, if you read the general nature of the complaints about the Sydney Based CS they mostly point to one big problem, and no one feels empowered to change that. The biggest problem in the Melbourne Based CS is finding a seat at the moment.

And GS14, the Richo is a Wanker chant only happened after we were able to reel him in with other amusing chants to which again he reacted to, I can't take the credit this time.

But JF's comment that they were slow, disabled etc, and that there were people there he felt unable to tell not to turn up was left for days without comment. When I suggested that that was an offensive comment I was 'disciplined'.

          Good night.

How many games at Sydney do you attend each year? Instead of bitching about bitching read the main gripe. So what if you got a job cleaning floors at court, wow. From my experience and what i see at the scg most of thje cs people are brainless twits.

You have made simular comments in the past so don't think that wasn't ignored when we took Julian's comment's into account.

3 to 4 games per year, plus a game in either Adelaide or Brisbane, so I'm quite aware of the "problems" that DO exist within the Sydney based Cheer Squad, but on the other hand I have met from that CS some of the best people you are ever likely to meet. The big issue is we MUST grow the numbers of members and the position of the CS area at the SCG is poor and there really is no CS tradition thus people won't join. Sadly the ones that have in past have left for whatever reasons, but I'm telling you cleaning out the members of the CS isn't going to improve thing.

Most likely kill the CS off.

Cleaning floors very funny. Pity that I don't go near a mop and bucket as a bench clerk. You see, that job sees me assists magistrates in court put away morons like you.

                  Some suggestions then:

                  1. Get a song book/sheet together as people have mentioned before. There have been some excellent songs dreamed up in this thread alone (ROK you have missed a calling surely).

                  2. Distribute the books/sheets. Get them onto paper and hand them out. Get them into the different bays with people willing to get behind the songs and sing. I would personally have a go at getting Bay 29 into it, we have an enthusiastic section of supporters and kids. We need to unite the ground, not just the bays around 22. Remember the "One Tony Lockett song"? Didn't that start in the O'Reilly?

                  3. Trial chants and songs. As discussed keep them short but funny and different. Meet these two criteria and most people get into it. If they don't work, let them go. Our Barry Hall song rocks, we even got on a TV show singing it. And the "C'mon you REEEDS" seems to go down a treat.

You guys in the cheer squad have obvious passion for the team and that's great, but maybe have a listen to some of the points people are bringing up in this thread and not attack newer posters for having an opinion. Telling people to STFU is just not cool.

Everyone needs to stop with the insults (myself included said something that others could find objectionable), or the thread will be locked.

Glenn, sadly I think this thread has passed its use-by date. I am going to lock it as it has long since stopped being constructive discussion.

If anyone feels that they still have something to discuss around the cheersquad (that doesn't involve mud-slinging of some sort, which has been done to death already), then please start another thread to keep it on-topic.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
