And how does that give the players stability. At least under the current contract system the players have security over the length of the contract even when they change clubs. The players would never accept what you are suggesting

The game is so quick right now that players that can create, innovate and regenerate something out of nothing will flourish in a fast moving game

Sure attitude, cardio, willingness to contest, tackles and two way run will be be mandatory. Yet equally we are in an era that needs to shape the ball supper quick and for me Ollie not so much and I would argue Hayward despite so many great characteristics isnt the fastest mover of the ball. Deadly entries is what need more of an players that find the 6 points on the run !

For me Curnow coming to us was absolutely critical. W blocked Geelong who is in a window and i reckon what Curnow brings vs Ollie and Hayward combined is way mor important come finals. For me, our list changes make us top8 team with out doubt and now maybe a top4 is a fair argument.

To get get King Curnow is a massive coup and then our other two trades look on point to evolve our backline and forward pocket role scoreboard pressure.

Those adjustments required $ and cap space shuffled to higher priorities ie scoreboard pressure and some height in our backline.

Then we have gone with some great picks in my opinion in the draft..........really exciting actually and we did it fairly well without too much risk to get what we wanted now and ven next year if we use a trade.

Harry - rolls royce moving across the pitch / really glides
Jevan - there is some rage in this guy and explosive
Billy - hungry as hell and mature
Max - slow burn but has that Sam Reid thing about him
Noah - up and about and has a nice left foot
Liam - slow burn over time

Interesting 50min interview with Chris Keane on the True Bloods podcast , dissecting in detail the events of the Trade and Draft periods.

Good probing questions from the boys, covering the players we' ve picked up and let go (Ollie & Wilbur), plus why we didn't match bid on Lachlan Carmichael.

Chris also predicted Will Edwards and Jesse Dattoli as the bolters for senior selections, based on them finally overcoming injuries and having full preseason.

It was a spur of the moment question though that Chris grappled with re Bolters but no doubt they are two of a handful

Both big injury year last twelve months Chris alluded to

Edwards see a biomechanic specialist re groin and no doubt OP

          Datolli back stress fractures

Thanks KSAS, a terrific interview giving great insight into the multitude of things that need to be balanced out in recruiting and drafting. If you don't watch, listen closely and absorb, you're doing yourself a disservice.

I think that it is true
Also it is true that at the same time our club has chased hard for a coleman medalist and made it happen.
Did very well with the other trades
Did very well with the draft hand
Have a lesser draft hand for next year but that is fair enough with what we secured for 2025 > 2026 season !

There is a serious player that may return from the Dogs in Chambo.........if we want to make that happen and we might as we have been blindsided re Dawson etc in the past

Club first and players down the line can sometimes sweet and sometimes sour

I think trade / draft period was both and it is business for club players AFL and it is passion projct for us supporters......... most of time
