Re the Jenkins twins, not only are they still bottom-agers, they have a birthdate quite late in the year. So they won't even turn 17 until well after the end of the season. That makes their contributions and their consistency even more notable, and suggests there is plenty of scope for physical development.
The same applies to McCartney too. He also has a November birthday.Comment

And while that I think of it, our game has been selected to be streamed on Kommunity TV. So it won't be available on the Talent League app, and can only be viewed live, if you have some sort of News Corpse subscription. Which I'm never going to have.
A replay will be put up on the Talent League app, perhaps Sunday or Monday.Comment

Our lads scored a (very) narrow, come-from-behind victory against GWV yesterday. Maybe the weather conditions were a little ordinary, given how inaccurate both teams were.

Andreacchio was everywhere early and looked like he was going tear the game apart. However, about ten minutes into the second quarter, I started thinking that I hadn't seen him for a while. I didn't see him for the rest of the game, so I assume that he picked up an injury. Hopefully it's not too bad, because a goal and 15 disposals was excellent work for around a quarter on the field.
I thought McNamara was possibly our best. Largely playing across half back, he racked up plenty of possessions, took some strong marks and generally used it well.
Carmichael, in the absence of Andreacchio, spent more time in the midfield and also accumulated a lot of possessions. Although, you hardly notice him doing so. Almost the opposite was King, who also spent a bit more time in the middle. Didn't quite get as much of the ball, but when he got it, you really did notice. He kicked a couple of contenders for "behind of the season", and a couple of other times, he slashed through the midfield to set up team mates, who unfortunately also kicked behinds.
Of our other highly rated players, Chamberlain also had a quality game: leading up and down the wing, taking strong marks and applying good defensive pressure.
Despite only getting 10 possessions, it's possible that the person with might have sparked the most interest from recruiters, was McGroder. Twice in the last quarter, he took off on high paced, extended runs out of defence, that ended up in goals to Chambers and Guy Jenkin.
The Jenkin twins were perhaps not quite as busy as usual, but both had decent games. Up until the final five minutes, I probably had Will as the better Jenkin, but then Guy speared a pass into the pocket to hit McCartney, who hooked through the set shot. Guy then won himself a free, from the scramble that followed McGroder pumping the ball deep. With our score at 4-13 and with time running out, he kicked truly to snatch a hard fought victory, in game that we never really looked like winning, until we did.Last edited by dejavoodoo44; 12 May 2025, 08:32 AM.🥰 1👍 1Comment

Carmichael and McNamara made the Rookie Me team of the week.
Western Jets lead all-comers in our Round 6 Team of the Week with four players making the cut, just ahead of the Suns Academy with three.
While Chamberlain and King also made their scouting notes.
