Interesting theory woth the foot wear TS and wouldn't surprise me if there is some truth in it.

There certainly should be an in depth review on the management of our injury list and what can be done to liimt them in future. It has been our most extensive in many a year.

The reason why I floated the boot theory:

McDonald: ankle pain after Werribee game (VFL).
      Papley: cracked heel during training.
      Mills: heel injury (plantar fascia).

There are others. A clear pattern is occurring here. Could be coincidence, but I would be putting the footwear on the scrutiny list.

A typical player runs the equivalent of a third of a marathon during a game, and maybe two marathons a week. Most of this running is done in football boots. If the football boots aren't well padded like a running shoe, there will be stress injuries in the feet.

I don't know a lot about football boots, so this theory could be rubbish. However, I am very good at spotting patterns, and I have noticed this. Injuries to the foot, heel, ankle, all coming up a lot this year. This is something that warrants closer scrutiny.

Certainly should be looked into. Who would be able to do this at the club? It is critical that their boots are the best possible for ultimate protection.

That page suggests Mills is 1-2 weeks, but the club website actually says: 'Callum is still rehabilitating from his plantar fascia tear. He did not complete all the training required last week for him to be available for selection. He will aim to complete team training this week. Week to week upon re-assessment' - https://www.sydneyswans.com.au/news/1769233.

One wonders what prevented Mills from completing training last week. Mills was 1-2 weeks to return the previous two weeks, so appears to have at best plateaued. Hmmmm.

Everyone else moved forward a week to return compared to the last report, aside from Adams and Amartey moving a bit faster and Papley remaining at 4-6.

Mills has missed an additional 4 games since they first said he was coming back.

Every other update on players has been stagnant at best, TBC at worst.

The year in general for most teams hasnt been good for injuries.

Tuesdays injury report has been terrible, Mclean is the only one we have gained after 8 Rounds from injury

Either it is down to bad luck, or there is something going on that needs to be looked into. Of course it may be a mixture of things but 12 injuries with quite a few 6-8 weeks or more seems crazy. It needs proper investigation by management- surely this should be a top priority! If we can’t put 5-6 of our key players on the park for extended periods then the club and supporters need some answers!

This is unreal- for instance, how can Logan be ready to play in the ressies, only to be seriously re- injured and now needing a possible new surgery? Is this just bad luck or did he come back too soon? So disappointing!

When Mills comes back I hope he has a couple of games in the magoos. He’s effectively missed over 18 months of footy. We’re not winning it this year, so do everything right to harden and condition his body for the long term. Pitching him back into the seniors might seem appealing given our woes and thin stocks, but likely to be counter productive. When he gets back on the park, we need him to stay there.

Completely agree in principle. In practice it might depend on whether we still have enough other bodies to field a team.

                        Indeed!

The Amartey return snuck up on me a little.

Not holding my breath on Amartey- no point rushing him back with his hammy history. Wouldn’t mind seeing Buller if Joel doesn’t make it.
