General footy chat Team Selection Round 2 Freo v Swans

Assuming Melican is out injured & McInerney with suspension:

Out: Melican (njured), McInerney (suspension) and Paton (omitted).

    In: Ladhams, Sheldrick and Mitchell.

    Bice to play full game.
McCartin in defence as where he's now sorely needed.

Ladhams as 2nd ruck/forward to give Grundy much needed chop out on such a Large and hard ground as Optus Stadium. Prefer Ladhams over MacLean for this reason, but not both as we'll be too top heavy. This allows Armatey to focus playing forward entirely.

Sheldrick gets a reprieve as replacement.for JMac.

    Caleb Mitchell as Sub.

Buller also comes under consideration, maybe even as Sub instead of Mitchell, but i prioritise 2nd Ruck over Key Forward this week as we have Darcy & Jackson to contend with.

    Must Win!!!

Yeah, it's a bit hard to know who out of Ladhams, McLean and Buller are pushing for selection, since our VFL practice matches seem to be occurring under a cone of silence.

If fit, I’d prefer McLean over Ladhams but agree we must play one of them. If Melican is out our defence needs bolstering so Tom would need to move back- does that mean Buller may get a chance? We need to find out pretty soon who is up to it, though playing Freo there is a tough ask and we certainly don’t want to be 0-3!

Not sure, but the fact he lied to,the club and player group means he probably need to earn the trust back in the 2s - right now though last man standing lol Freo will be looking to atone at home we could cop a real hiding this week

I'm surprised people think Freo are going to come out and flog us. They were pretty bog average in the all stars game to say the least, and they didn't exactly show much on Saturday against the Cats. Have plenty of injuries like us. Would not surprise me if they were to defeat us, but don't think we are going to get a hiding in any form of the word if we do get beat.

A few out, a new coach and a new structure.
Losing GFs the way we do, gets us little respect in a non football state.
I'm hopeful of a win but despite last year's consistency and finishing clear games ahead on top, it's weird that people don't know what they are going to get from the Swans.

The gap between our best and worst is huge, probably more because our best last year was phenomenal
I feel it myself, last week I was never comfortable we were going to go on with it at any stage of the game

Because Freos best is good enough to put anyone to the sword at home, expecting a big response like Collingwood did last week and we are severely undermanned in areas they have great strength.

Perfect chance to study what Geelong did

Freos big advantage is the midfield which may be a little doen without Darcys tap work and young being out.

Their wforward line will dominate with supply, we have beaten them at Optus by shuting down their wings, Jma normally goes to Clarke.

Hoping Bice can do that role, Bailey Smith made them work the opposite direction which worked very well.

They will come out firing but so should we, they were 4 freak goals from a debutant away from a 100 pt thrashing

hey are saying Angus Sheldrick will come back for McInerney, But that doesn't make sense, Gus is an inside mid, Macca is more a winger. I think 'Sid' Mitchell will get the nod

Yes he is available now. I wonder if he will get picked yet though.

Equally as shown by Freo last week, their worst is god damn awful, even by our standards. No doubt they'll come out firing, but we've hardly played putridly bad either.

I hold grave fears our season won't come to much chop, but I don't expect at all it to be anything but a close game on Sunday.
