This is not a good sign for McLean given that he is now 26 and not getting any quicker. The other concern is that he is not taking pack marks which was his strength. Perhaps the run in the reserves will help his confidence
Essendon didn't take intercept marks, they took uncontested defensive marks in our 50 because the delivery was terrible.

Mclean has always played better as a full-time fwd then a pinch hit ruck.

In any case, Hamling and Francis were in the same fwd line last week and delivered nothing.

You let him play to his strengths and don't have the guy with limited abilities play 2 roles.

Kick 2.4 against Port as be was cooked from the 30 ruck contests he attended

Hamling and Francis were hardly given a chance. Most inside 50s went straight to Essendon defenders.

Exactly my point, Mclean was in that fwd line too when he didn't have to ruck.

Which is partly the fault of whoever’s kicking it, partly the fault of the coach if he’s allowing an outnumber, partly the fault of everyone approximate to the forward line who isn’t running to engage an opponent, and partly the fault of the actual forwards if they are static and not fighting for position.
