    Kinnear Beatson - Draft Dud

Our history of first picks (excluding academy)

    2012 - Dean Towers
    2013 - Zak Jones
    2016 - Oliver Florent
    2017 - Matthew Ling
2019 - Dylan Stephens (ahead of the mad Swans fan Caleb Serong)
    2020 - Logan McDonald
    2021 - Angus Sheldrick
    2022 - Jacob Konstanty
    2023 - Will Green
    2024 - Jesse Dattoli

Not a single A grader, not even close. Plus some genuine busts.

How anyone can sing KB's praises is beyond me. The final straw for me was last year where in a draft full of talls, when we desperately needed one, we went for two hybrid mids. We had TWO chances to draft Jobe Shanahan, every time I see him play I curse.

KB, don't let the door hit you on the bum.

He has unearthed some guns later in the draft and as rookies but hard tio ignore a number of first round clangers..

We would be Essendon without the Academy
I hold hope for 4 of the last 5 Picks

You don’t seriously believe that Kinnear makes the decision on who the club draft. His job is to research and prepare a dossier on all players considering to be in the top 100 in the country, including the academy. The decision who to draft is taken by the football department based on perceived short and long term needs, so if your looking for someone to blame that is where that is where the decisions are made.

Also think it is way too early to make calls on Logan McDonald, Sheldrick, Green and Dattoli.

You also conveniently ignore the fact that the club has consistently participated in the finals virtually every year meaning that the first round picks were late teens or early twenties taking into account Free Agency, Father Son, NGA’s.

I do agree with you on Dylan Stephens, but every club has one of those (eg Fin McCrae at Collingwood)
