It is actually quite a relief that no Academy kids are in the top 30, as we will almost certainly be unable to match any bids given our hand and the new rules. Hopefully aa few good ones slip down to pick 37 and later, where we can just swoop in with our next available pick.

Poor Taylor Adams.....after finally returning to play after so long, via the VFL today, he went off with another hamstring injury in the first quarter no less.

Really feel for him after all the work he has put in to get back.....he may well hang up the boots after this setback.

PS: Just saw that there is a VFL thread.....this would already have ben covered.

          No surprise.
While I feel sorry for him at a personal level, I still can't understand the club's rationale around trading Parker out and him in. Similar in the midfield, Parker probably more of a threat forward/in the air. Was Parker asking for an absurdly bigger/longer deal? Otherwise, WTF?

Coming out of our bye and still no update on Armartey's contract talks. Last i heard we had a 4 and a 5 year deal put out in front of him.

Parker and Adams were on the list together in 2024. I don't think Adams was recruited to replace Parker, but to bolster our midfield depth. We signed him onto a 3 year contract to lure him across.

As it turned out, Parker had a horrible 24 season with his late preseason injury and then followed by (IIRC) a 6 week suspension in the VFL upon his return.

This delayed Parker's senior return, as he was also battling breaking into a team that was fllying. I think he eventuslly replaced Adams in the team who started the season well and began to lose confidence as the finals neared. with the GF demons of 23 at Collingwood getting the better of him. Parker played in the 24 GF (sadly his last as a Swan) and Adams missed out....again.

I don't recall Parker and Adams playing together?

Parker had another year on his contract, which the club wasn't willing to extend at the point seeing him as a yearly proposition. Parker understandably wanted a longer term security which a struggling North provided.

In a recent podcast. Parker admitted feeling the pressure of an emerging Sheldrick & co and understood the club's position with him.

With the benefit of hindsight, Parker most likely would've had his contract extended for another yeat based on our horrendus injury list in 25 and his 8form since at North. Adams has struggled to get onto the park the past 2 seasons.

Sad, dearly would've loved to see Parker as a one club player and joining our 300 game club.

On Agenda Setters last night, Mitch Cleary speculated with Armatey possibly receiving $1m offers that he would accept $800k to remain a Swan.

I would've said $800k is too much for Armatey but with the rapidy rising player salaries, not sure what is reasonable $$$$ for mid tier players now?

Have to manage our cap carefully over next couple of years, with big stars coming out of contract and Tassie looming.

Couldn't imagine a more sheepish phone call than the one between Amartey and his Agent atm

There is no way any of those figures could be justified and I couldnt imagine any team that would be relying on him to become their number one option

John Ralph speculated last night pre game v Brisbane on Fox Footy, that we had only tabled $600k for Armatey. He is keen on stsying and hasn't entertained other offers as yet according to Ralph.

He added that Chris Keane is scheduled to meet up with Armatey's management soon and expects a deal to be finalised, upwards of the original $600k offer. Armatey's performance last night would have not helped his cause!

So there have been 2 seperate media speculations on Armatey's contract negotations in the space of 24hrs. One suggesting $800k will cut it, the other maybe not that high. Common ground is Armatey wants to stay.

Its at the point where id take Mclean over him as a pure fwd and Mclean probably doesn't need that kind of money.

Looking fwd we have Max King and Green we can try at that end of the ground too
