Cootee he looks impressive, Kyle has absolutely no game awareness hopefully he spends the year learning his athleticism is impressive, Melican looks like he's struggling and finally Cahmberlain look like he has a future

Slightly increased our lead in that quarter to 49-35. Cootee did well playing as a small forward with three goals. Talls McLean and Hetherton competed well for a couple of goals each.
In the midfield, Ladhams and Cleary have got their hands on it a fair bit, but I'm not sure if too many touches have been to our advantage? We now seem to be running Kyle in the midfield. He's showed a bit of his potential, but a few sloppy possessions, also showed that he's still a work in progress. Chamberlain has had a pretty good game on the wing. Dattoli seems to have more spatial awareness than anyone else.
Melican, Snell, Edwards, and VFL listed, Gibbs and Harrison have gone well in defence. We now seem to be playing Harrison as a small defender, rather than a midfielder, and it appears to be working.👍 1Comment

A few goals in the latter part of that quarter meant that we got back in front, after being outplayed for much of it. I think most of our problems stemmed from the ruck work of Ladhams. Most of the time he was trying to tap it to himself or just grab it. Most of the time, that was just the prelude to a GWS clearance.
On a more positive note, Cootee had a bit of midfield time and looks to have clean disposal skills. McLean did well to grab a couple of goals from limited opportunities.Last edited by dejavoodoo44; Today, 06:23 PM.👍 1Comment

Did well to tough out the win, despite kicking against the wind in the final quarter. Ladhams was actually pretty good in that quarter. McLean battled hard all day to provide a target and deserved his four goals. The three goals to Hetherton was encouraging. Didn't get a huge amount of it, but he seems to be a decent shot at goal. Cootee's three goals were also pleasing and his disposals were effective. Cleary improved as the game went on, but has the tendency this season to do strange loopy handballs, that if they actually reach a team mate, then that player is immediately under pressure. Edwards was excellent in defence.Comment

Good competitive match, GWS had enough AFL-standard players to provide a contest, our accuracy in front of goal and solid defence made the difference.
3 votes - Edwards. Read the flight of the ball really well, was a very strong mark and generally made good decisions coming out of defensive 50. Combined well with Melican.
2 votes - McLean. Took advantage of an undersized GWS defence. Straight kicking and a excellent mark forward and around the ground.
1 vote - Ladhams. Probably had the edge over Briggs. Had some 'oh Pete' moments but provided plenty of drive around the ground and was strong in the air.
Quite an even performance I felt with good displays from Cootee (didn't play whole game, but did some excellent work), Snell (quieter than last week but very composed), Cleary (not remarkable, but good in close and worked hard off the ball) and Dattoli (relatively quiet but showed some classy touches). Of the other youngsters Hetherton can take an excellent mark, and Chamberlain covers a vast amount of ground.Comment

I’m as keen as mustard on Dattoli but you can see he’s still got a bit to go in getting back to the real fitness required for repeat efforts. What he does when involved is all class, so the rest will come.
I think I posted on here when he got drafted that a mate of mine who’s a Norwood fan said Cootee had the potential to play the sort of role Shaun Manaugh does for Geelong. He’s a good judge, watching that tonight.Comment
