While I'm usually not interested in most market research or survey questions, there is a question that I'd love to see answered in regards to tonight's game. That is: what percentage of people are watching, because they want to see Carlton get to about five goals in front at half-time and somehow still manage to lose?
I mean, is there something perverse about me, for wanting to see their season descend further into tragi-comic misery? Or is it something that most Australians want to see? I suspect it skews towards the latter. Or at least most of the neutral fans watching. And possibly many Carlton fans, as well, who now want to see the end of Voss.
Now that I think of it, it probably wouldn't be the most trivial or frivolous market research question commissioned by AFL management.
Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about tomorrow's game, is that there'll be a debut for another Swans Academy product; Angus Anderson. He was probably a bit unlucky not to pick up a rookie contract in his draft year. He then went to Sturt in the SANFL to try and further his career, which culminated in him being BOG in last season's grand final. So good luck to him. When I've got an hour or two to spare, I must write down all the academy products now playing for other clubs in the AFL, VFL, SANFL and WAFL.
The first Saturday game is between 5th and 9th. Strangely it's North in 5th and Brisbane in 9th. Possibly the last time this year that North will be in the top six.
Possibly the match of the round will be the Saturday night class between the Hawks and the Bulldogs. Anyone want to try and convince me to barrack for either side?
