General footy chat Round : the other games.

While I'm usually not interested in most market research or survey questions, there is a question that I'd love to see answered in regards to tonight's game. That is: what percentage of people are watching, because they want to see Carlton get to about five goals in front at half-time and somehow still manage to lose?

I mean, is there something perverse about me, for wanting to see their season descend further into tragi-comic misery? Or is it something that most Australians want to see? I suspect it skews towards the latter. Or at least most of the neutral fans watching. And possibly many Carlton fans, as well, who now want to see the end of Voss.

Now that I think of it, it probably wouldn't be the most trivial or frivolous market research question commissioned by AFL management.

Perhaps the most noteworthy thing about tomorrow's game, is that there'll be a debut for another Swans Academy product; Angus Anderson. He was probably a bit unlucky not to pick up a rookie contract in his draft year. He then went to Sturt in the SANFL to try and further his career, which culminated in him being BOG in last season's grand final. So good luck to him. When I've got an hour or two to spare, I must write down all the academy products now playing for other clubs in the AFL, VFL, SANFL and WAFL.

The first Saturday game is between 5th and 9th. Strangely it's North in 5th and Brisbane in 9th. Possibly the last time this year that North will be in the top six.

Possibly the match of the round will be the Saturday night class between the Hawks and the Bulldogs. Anyone want to try and convince me to barrack for either side?

I think the Adelaide-Carlton game will be different to the other Carlton games this year. My guess: Carlton trail at half time, play a competitive second half winning the second half by about a goal and still lose.

Not a bad first quarter. Though you'd think that once Adelaide starts evening up the clearances, then Carlton will fold.

Did Cripps just get a free, because he hurt his hand while trying to whack an Adelaide player?

Carlton should have won this game, except their disposals and decision making are god awful and they’re a rather large part of footy. Name one elite kick they have.

Yes, and that's probably a significant factor in tiring them out. Teams with quality ball users tend to tire other teams, by making them scramble in defence. While teams with poor ball users, force themselves to scramble after turning it over, or they move it through energy sapping 50/50 contests.

Nothing perverse about you AT ALL deja!

We Bloods have every right to revel in Carlton's woes after they hovered like vultures over our club in the 90s, waiting for our demise so that they could move into the Sydney market. The club and its supporters lack heart and substance. Long may they languish on the lower rungs of the ladder.

If it wasn't for Adelaide's last two goals in the last few minutes, my guess would have been spot on.

Carlton didn't surrender meekly, but played out the game. The Carlton players would have been well aware of their poor second half performances and would have wanted to make amends. They lost the game by 28 points, but lost the second half by only four.

Am I the only one who gets excited to watch Josh Tracy play? The world loves a big, dominate brute forward.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Fremantle have got a forward line that should do plenty of damage this season.

Academy product, Angus Anderson, looking pretty good so far. Though it's probably quite handy, to make your debut at the ground where in your last appearance, you were BOG in the SANFL grand final

Yeah, I know it's wet, but Collingwood are playing at a mediocre level and Fremantle are playing like they're allergic to water.

Sorry if this is not the right place. I'm asking for some advice. I will be in Melbourne on Thursday next week- April 16 and was wondering if it is advisable to go to the Carlton -Collingwood game? I've been to the MCG before for finals matches with us- but I haven't seen a real blockbuster match between two Victorian sides...soooo I guess the main question is- Is it safe for me to go by myself as an older lady swans fan,? and secondly, if I go, how do I avoid Collingwood supporters? Where do I sit? Or should I forget the whole thing and just watch it on TV from the hotel?
