Do you honestly think Mathews set out to be a passenger?
Drop Benny??

You'd hope not but he should be the best judge of his ability to perform and as a professional he should be in tune with himself enough to know if he can perform on the day or not. If he can't by this stage in his career, he never will and that in itself is a big problem.Comment

It's the attitude that saw many play the Grand Final injured. Should Leo Barry have opted out of the Grand Final?Originally posted by swansrock4eva
If he was going to be a passenger, yes.
he took a ride on the shoulders of LRT, Kennelly and co...
and aren't we glad he did!Comment

It's always a bit of a guess to say whether you can play with an injury and it's quite a long-standing tradition in professional sport (especially footy) to lie to whoever is testing you about how you feel and whether you can play.
On another thought though, Benny seemed relatively "his usual self" on saturday, so if he was out of form and fitness, does that means he's ALWAYS out of form and fitness?Comment

So every Swans player with an injury should ask not to play? Barry Hall certainly shouldn't have played the past two games with his hamstring problems.
And I hear Jolly has a long term niggle so should he rest and let Chambers be our No 1 ruckman?
From last week's press report, if the self righteous of RWO did team selection, we would have played without 11 of our seniors. That would have given a lot of our 2s a good chance to play seniors.
When Crouch was finally limiting Judd in the GF were you all thinking "He's got broken bones and he's not 100% fit - how selfish to take the field"?
The direction of this thread has surpassed itself for armchair critic illogical finger pointing.Comment

They said on Channel Ten that it was Ben M and Teddy R who were dropped with Vogels, Bevan and Dempster promoted.
Assuming there have been three changes, I'm a tad disappointed that one of the 'ins' isn't either Moore or Schmidt. Others will decry the inclusion of Bevan. I'm not one of them. His reserves form warrants his inclusion.
The one I'd not have brought back in at this stage is Dempster. I certainly think he has a future but on recent reserves (and senior) form, I don't think his cries for selection are as loud and clear as Moore's and Schmidt's. There may be match-up considerations, of course, with Dempster able to take a taller player while Moore and Schmidt can't. But if the plan is to play Dempster more in a midfield role, I'm a little disappointed.Comment

I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
