Schneider looks good up front. Still some very ordinary football but an improvement. Oh, and Freo suck.
LRT was outstanding in the ruck. When he didn't tap the ball out, he got it again off the ground.

MOL - Best game for a long while, has he been given a licence to roam after last weeks game.

Davis was a major target, just couldn't find the big sticks early. But he knows how to celebrate them when he gets them.

Schneider was ordinary early go a lot of the ball but gave it to players under pressure, actually most of the team did that.

Oh and you are right about Freo.

Yep I am not a Bevan fan and tonight certainly didn't change my mind.

Up until 3 Q time he had.

        3 caught in possessions
        1 clean disposal
        1 mark
3 shocking disposals including one kick from defence under no pressure that landed 10 metres in front of the leading target.
His so called "hard at its" were handball receives that he then used to advantage with rugby type barges. He has no idea how to do a quick disposal.

Took a couple of marks in junk time. Farmer is simply so far over the hill it isn't funny.

        Some other observations

J Bolton walks into the rooms at 3Q time again.
What was that kick of Buchanans in the 3rd Q.
Goodes had some brain fades tonight.
No runners no numbers to the ball. eg Fosdike gets a mark on the wing with a paddock ahead of him but no one was running ahead to that space for him. When we were winning by big margins it was a hallmark of our game.
Second to the ball again - 3 weeks in a row.
Struggle on geasy or wet surfaces. At least we are having a drought in Melbourne at the mo. If we get to play finals in Melbourne that might be a blessing.
Kirk did not attack the ball - is he injured.
        Buchanan and Goodes undisciplined
Side persists in kicking wide to forwards.
Vogels has clean hands and good disposal. Very dangerous up forward. Must stay in side. Roos used him poorly for 3 quarters.
Jolly was very poor tonight. Gave away frees, hardly got a tap.
LRT to ruck turned the game. You could see the midfield lift.
Fozzie stuffed a few things up but solid all night.
        McVeigh could be.
Moore looked slow but did some nice things late. Probably should stay in, but needs to work a lot harder.
Kennelly good second half, Schneider top game, Davis good.

        Sloppy exhibition overall.

Just home from the game, got a glass of Coopers Pale Ale to wash that footy beer taste away. Bad kicking is bad football, we sucked tonight. Freo must have thought they were playing Auskick, cos their brains went home after the third. We'll need to pick up a bloody hell of a lot to get close to Adelaide next week. Still, there were some good signs of improvement.

The 'ins' freshened up the overall look of the team, bringing Vogels in to allow LRT to go in the ruck was a masterstroke - tho don't forget how good LRT was in the GF at CHB, he'll only pinch-hit in the ruck, and Freo dropped Sandilands. He's better than Chambers, anyway. MOL had his best game of the season, Jude had a better game than for a while.

Had our scoring shots been as accurate as Freo, we'd've kicked 22 goals. But you get what you deserve - 2.8 in the third was indicative of scrappy match, that did not make for pleasant viewing. I sat with a bunch of Freo fans. They were just happy to be in touch for 3 terms - no wonder the team is so lame.

Very happy to come away with the 4 points, but if we perform to a similar level next week, the Crows would walk all over us.

Interesting you saw all the negative stuff for Bevan, but not Schneiders.

I'd love to know wtf they gave Willo in that final qtr - I want some of those smelling salts - on report for an attempted trip (even though it wasn't mentioned in the AFL match report) and then those turnovers which led to the goals, wtf was that for the first three quarters.

I have to agree with Sam K on MMM when he said LRT had one of his best matches for the club tonight. All the inclusions into the team (maybe not Dempster as much) made some impact. Also the brink players such as Nicky D, etc definitely came through tonight to earn themselves a week's reprieve.

And here's a stat you don't see every day. Magic topping the Sydney disposals with 19.

Thats cause I kept a watch on Bevos stats not Schneids. I would suggest Schneider had a far more positive affect on the result of the game.

Jarrod Malloy on ABC Melbourne was a big wrap for Bevan's efforts in completely shutting out Farmer in the 2nd half.
We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

Still far too Hall concious when going into attack. Our dominant periods of the game was when we looked for other options. Eg. MOL, Davis, etc. O'keefe needs to be more of a go-to target as well.

In the last half yes. But they obviously have different roles. Bevan was a negating role, Schneider has and attacking role. Headland didn't do much while bevan was on him. Bevan even got a few touches himself.

I cant remember the last time I saw farmer play a good game. Admitiedly, I dont see many Freo games.

Bevans weakness has always been his free-kick-against record. If he can keep that under control, there's a place for him in the side. He is the next Crouch.

I agree, we will get plucked by the crows next week if we don't lift our game for the entire 4 quarters and not just 10 minute bursts!
