    Paul Roos on drugs?

    Roos, on today's loss:
"Sometimes the teams you're playing against are in better health than you as well, even though they're further down on the ladder, so I don't think it surprises anyone, certainly from within the inner sanctum of the footy club."

"We certainly didn't mark this down as a win - we knew it was going to be tough."
The Sydney Swans injury list update as of Monday August 14:
    PLAYER INJURY STATUS
    Ben Mathews Calf Test
    Jarred Moore Thumb Season
    Paul Williams Shoulder Season
Willo we miss, but he is 34. Benny is a seasoned senior player but hardly central to the team. Moore is not missed (though hopefully one day he will be the sort of player that is). So why blame injuries?

Sure, that Cats are pretty healthy too, but I'd hardly say we are unhealthy. Gawd, what would poor old Paul do at the Bulldogs... Every press conference the same - it's not my fault. Anyone say "scapegoat"?

Forgot to mention, also blames the conditions, see Swans web site for article.

But you missed Crouch with his mysterious injury! He obviously holds the answer to a win against a mediocre team and being slaughtered in a tedious and slow game.

You are right, the Crouch potato. His coaching career is better than Paul's. 100% winning record and about 700% for/against figure!

How on earth are we not in great health? We hardly have too many players missing from our GF side of last year.

          Ball and Williams - retired.

          Crouch and Mathews - injured.

          Davis - omitted.

You'd think Roos was struggling to put together his best 22 with the same problems as the Saints or the Bulldogs.

Not sure what Roos is getting at here. Maybe he is hinting that some of the team is carrying injuries which is affecting the performances. We certainly do not have the injury lists of a lot of other teams.

Not on drugs - perhaps shellshocked.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I saw some of the press conference on FFC and I think that's hat he was hinting at - a team might have some players out injured, but then of those on the field, they are closer to 100% fit. Still a poor excuse to be making for a terrible performance - you take the risk if you put players out there that aren't 100%. Sometimes it comes off (eg GF day 2005) and other times it comes back to bite you.

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

It can come of in finals, when all teams are battered and bruised, and there is only a week or three to go. Sydney have been doing it all season. A little bird told me one of the players has a broken foot FFS!

Then that makes the ND best 23 comment sound even more like bull@@@@ than it did at first.

He NEVER admits he has made a mistake. There is always some excuse.

Yep. Yet again the doublespeak is showing them up with later contradictions.

I also noted the "loss we had to have...better now than in the finals" line being trotted out in the Sun Herald this morning.

                            What a crock.
