SYDNEY, Aug 31 AAP - Irishman Tadhg Kennelly has decided to stick with the Sydney Swans until the end of the 2009 AFL season before returning to his homeland.
The dashing Sydney defender was considering heading home at the end of this season but has signed a three-year deal with the reigning premiers.
The 25-year-old felt he had plenty more to achieve in the AFL.
He will turn 28 in 2009 and could still potentially fulfil a childhood dream of winning an All-Ireland title in Gaelic football.
"The next three years are going to be the most fruitful for him, he can still get better and he is only 25," Sydney coach Paul Roos said.

Hard to directly compare the countries, but amazingly it appears that Dublin actually has a higher Cost of Living than Sydney. Go figure?

In other news, it's been written into his contract that his playing for Sydney will be conditional on his name being spelled correctly in all media from now on. Tough negotiator, that T.A.D.H.G.
Tadhg had every right to go home. I think the fact that he's chosen to stay with us for another 3 years does suggest that, no matter what you think about all the "Bloods" business, there is still a pretty good spirit in the club. The money won't hurt too...Comment

I choose to believe the latter. Onya Hammo!Comment

Good news for the swans. Tadhg knows he can still come back and compete in Gaelic footy after 2009. It's generally easier on the body.
I hope he gets to play further up the field in years to come and kick some of the goals he's definitely capable of kicking!
