buchanan for me - he was bloody awesome in the last quarter and IMO we would have been runners up without him
I agree the canon was out best. Even fosdike was close to BOG. BLT was BOG for the 1st half.

Judd certainly was nothing on buckleys efforts to win in a losing side. He won alot of the ball, but did stuff all with it. Went awol after meeting the serial pest too.

From above: without Embley, we would have won by four goals.

We need our team to play like a team and work for each other and we should get over the line.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

All we need is our forward to fire and kick accurately.
Hall you owe us one from the same game last year.

Doyle as permanent FF is building momentum.....in my mind. Would stretch WC's defense, possibly forcing Glass off Hall.

                          1) Doyle or Jolly weights are heavier than Cox, from listed players data. If Jolly or especially Doyle go head to head with Cox, I feel Doyle has a greater chance of bumping Cox off, enough to receive the ball from the air with less interference from Cox or other smaller WC coast players.
Hall at one end with double/triple tagging and crumbers at Halls feet 5-10 metres in front. Doyle at the other side. This should be effective. Mix up the avenues for goal together with the other forwards.

                          2) Hall did a very smart thing 2-3 games ago. Instead of trying to grab the ball in the air with 2-3 opponents front & backing on him, he punched the ball forward to allow the crumbers to pick up & goal. This technique should be employed when his opponents are seen to be getting on top with double/triple tagging - just to change the mix of getting goals - opponents will be confused which avenues of goal we use next.

                          3) I like the Davis bump/small but firm hand push on the opponent in front to receive the goal in Vs Calton game - class experienced act. Use body strength with abit of forward body movement to give more force. So simple but very effective followed by an accurate kicking as usual(from Davis) This legitimate technique shoudd be used more often.

                          4) Jump & kick the opponent in front out enough with knee(s) to receive the ball, kicking the opponents out of the ball trajectory - all you have to do is "must have eyes on the ball (a must)(u can still guage who to kick the opponent out still) and time it reasonable right (dont have to be spot on) - from my observation of the umpiring. Its all legitimate.

                          5) Smart tapping to fellow players instead of picking up the ball with opponents coming at you. Have a sense where your players are around you.

                          6) MOL to train on kicking for goals in triple time with some intensive mental coaching. Whatever mental coaching/psychology (spell?) that has been done is not working.
What are you actaully thinking of when you are kicking for goal, MOL? Ask Hall/Davis/Okeefe. This has been going on far too long in critical games. Use MOL more up the ground in the early part of the games, perhaps to rid of his yips

                          7) kick them long when u are forrced to (dempster & macleski) their kicks DO appear very long distance indeed. Definitely use this advantage to give the forward chances to goal.

                          8) Work overtime on set play in center bounces/ boundary throw-in - know where the taps are going to be. Memorise the sequences. this brings back memeory of Davis run from the tap to goal in Vs Geelong last year. It breaks opponents heart.
This is the time to do them now - work out the set sequences and gain the edge, not just break even with opponents set play.
Alot of secret codes/sign on the field to give out the message. Play smart.

                          9) This is the time for the coach to reinforce his player that we can do it again. Tell the players & public why we can do it. Dont dwell on "negative thoughts or self promotion or double talk" Give them the super strength/super confidence. They will play with confidence for the coach & the swan supporters.

I don't know how effective that would be

Graham (195cm) has had an oustanding seasons and some very good games against high quality forwards and leads the AFL in kicking efficency (around 94%) so is very dangerous when rebounding

Loading up on talls (as west coast have done in the past) never really seems to work the way you would think it would (Gardiner 200cm v Barry 184cm - Barry one of the best on ground)

All it does it take away mobility and activity from the forward line and make you look stagnant and lacking targets and when the ball hits the deck the ball is rebounded with ease (Kennelly, LRT and Barry v Gardiner, Gaspar and Hansen)

I think my point is that unless they are a natural forwrd and are good overhead and actually know how to lead and mark (and kick, Gardiner) then they usually do the opposite and turn a percieved strength (height advantage over smaller defenders) then turns into a very real disadvantage (mobility and agility) with the lack of pressure that is then not put on the defenders (4th qtr of the QF come to mind, west coast go with a smaller forward line and get back in the game)

The only genuine ruck like that in my mind would be Lade and then tapers down to Everrit and Cox

See even WCE supporters agree, that Juddd wasn't BOG in 2005 GF.
