    Didn't he announce he's staying.
They said the big three were going on for another year.
I recall reading something ages ago on afl.com.au. I think the three were Hird, Buckley & Harvey, with Voss (Bris) retiring.
(My memory is a bit stuffed ... so excuse me if I'm wrong).

Out of those, the most likely are Peckett, Powell and Thompson. Gehrig's contract doesn't finish until next year, Voss has quite a few years left and I think Harvey is good enough to play one more season. But it all depends on if his body can take it or not...

Turning point was when Gehrig tried to play on at the end of second quarter and hurt himself in the process. With an already depleted bench, losing one more - especially him - was just too much.

I rode every bump and hump of that game, feeling the pain. Not sure how I am going to cope with this evening's game, where I passionately care about the result. Am even contemplating not watching the damn thing...think I need to go and calm myself by watching the final quarter of last year's PF - the ultimate in low-stress finals football viewing.

Wow, what a game. I just love finals footy. Melbourne were all over the shop in the first quarter and a bit but St Kilda didn't kick goals during that period. Once the injuries hit it was a matter of hanging on but they just couldn't do it. Grant Thomas should be sacked, he played 5 rucks last week and retained Rix over the more experienced Ackland and Blake against the might of Jeff White.

I get like that during Swans finals matches and think about doing something else, like going to the cinema, so that when I come out it will be all over and I can ust get the result ad if its a win, watch a stress free replay. But I know it wouldnt work. I know that I'd be totally distracted and end up leaving the cinema well beore the movie is over to rush to the nearest TV showing the game. After last nights great game and well and truly have a serious dose of finals fever.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! when the Saints go marching OUT
Oh when the Saints go marching out (of the finals)
Oh how I'd love to be in St Kilda
When the Saints go marching OUT!

(and yes I do realise that was a terrible b@st@rdisation of their theme song...)

Was anyone else of the view that Fraser's shorts were not as tight as usual last night?

It was Archer, not Harvey that will be definitely going around next year... hope Harvey does but.

So great to see the devastated looks on the faces of all the St Kilda faces after the game, especially Baker and Gherig. With Thomas at the helm they will never go far, the same can be said for the Cats and Bomber.

So glad to see the Dees steamroll the Saints in the last qtr.

I've said it for a while now - the only redeeming feature of seeing the Saints win IMHO is that it gives Robert Harvey a chance to win a flag. If he retires, then I don't have to have even the slightest sense of satisfaction in seeing them make finals and win them!

                          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Yep, same. I feel sorry for Harvey.

Harvey aside, it was great to see the Saints pummelled. Another season which had the Melbourne mafia tipping them as premiers has ended in despair. ALl the tears about injuries are just a smokescreen for a club with a poor coach and losing culture.

How many weeks until the Saints get annointed 2007 flag favourites??

So do I, but then I felt sorry for Bobby Skilton, Robert Flower, Paul Kelly, Plugger Lockett...etc etc. Only 22 players a season can play in a premiership team, that's the way it is.
