Agree on the crowd, Prenda. And I hate mexi-@@@@ing-can waves. But I think you're being harsh on the game & our chances next week (quite a few fups, tho', I grant you).

Some people are too difficult to please. PF's are often a bit scrappy at the start - this was no different. The crowd was the largest outside of Victoria this year. I shouted myself hoarse. We are in another GF playing for back to back premierships. What more could you possibly want Prenda?

The Mexican wave was a celebration of the victory - it only started half way through the 4th once the result was sealed.

Sorry Prenda, disagree on all accounts.

There was plenty of noise and atmosphere
So no Melb side. So what.
19 goals to 14 with end to end stuff. 2 Brilliant key forwards showing their wares. The fact the Qtrs went quickly is testament how good the game was
You don't even know who we're playing so a bit hard to call that we will get flogged.

As for the wave, Yes I dont like it but a "disgrace" is a bit harsh.

When they put the words up on the scoreboard for the national anthem, you seriously have to wonder what sort of people we are attracting to these big matches.

What happened to me tonight nearly had me leave the stadium in tears at half time. There were not enough seats in our cheer squad allocation, with sickly corporate type noobs taking up the rows behind our small group. So I spent the first half of an AFL Preliminary final sitting on the hard aisle in the frigging aisle. All because I came in late to the ground because I had to go in a car because of all the flags I was lugging. Flags I took to Perth at great expense.

The n00b factor was something cronic tonight. It was embarrassing that at times then 1000 or so Freo fans would completely outsing 61000 other people. The atmosphere was slightly better in the 2nd half, but still the cocktail party types behind me watched me try and gee the crowd up with my megaphone with a mixture of confusion & bemusement. They ALL left as soon as the siren went.

The scary thing is that there are n00bs left right & centre now trying to get GF tickets, making crazy offers like paying for flights etc etc. What is even worse is that ********s like them WILL get tickets!

We won tonight, which was pleasing. But to be rendered to the aisle after having just spent over $800 on a trip to Perth, a place I dislike and do not necessarily want to travel to, is a kick in the teeth that I can do without afer years of loyal commited support.

I could contact the club and rant my tits off about a major ticket stuff-up. But what is the point of that, our membership staff are snowed under as it is.

I think when the dust settles you should write an old fashioned letter to them. Seems pretty ordinary effort by the ticket allocators or the ushers at the ground.

In terms of the atmosphere, who thinks it might be a factor of playing at the Olympic Stadium?

I've been to a few Swans matches there, and the stadium itself doesn't seem to be conducive to a pressured, noisy atmosphere in the way the MCG or SCG does, even though the crowd is larger.

60,000 can generate heaps of noise
                    its not the stadium
its sydney people, two thirds of the crowd are there for a night out and nothing else
apart from the hard core fans, the others just dont care

cookie was right during the week when he said subi generates more noise,he is right on the money.over thereyou have 100% crowd participation.

I think a lot of you are being fairly harsh - i thought it was a terrific game. I don't see why a semi final needs to be an 'in close, tough, hard' game. Heck, the swans play that way most weeks.

Where I was in the ground, I thought the atmosphere was farsuperior to the Brisbane semi of 2003. There seemed to be far more chanting, and general noise at the game. The game to me felt quiet weird, because it was so warm at the ground.

The crowd is disappointing, but the tickets were too expensive. If the standard tickets were cheaper and more of them, it would have been sold out methinks....

In terms of crowd number I thought 61,000 was great! It was in competition against the one of the league's most popular team's game, it will be larger that what Crows / Eagles get, we were playing a team from the other side of the country and hey it was pretty expensive too...so a good crowd all up.

In terms of a spectacle I thought it was great, goals kicked from everywhere and when was the last time we saw a shootout!?!

However, I thought during the night, the crowd was strangly flat and even quiet in periods..what happened to the SYYYYYDDDDNNNNNEEEEYYY chant? Perhaps it was simply the nerves of the night.

Anyways, I had a sensational night...bring on the GF!
                        Swannies for life!

Sorry JF, you have really lost me on this one. Your self big noting has become boring as has your expectation that everyone should follow the Swans in the same way that you do. I was sitting in the crowd behind you so I guess I was one of those supposed 'cocktail types' but how you define 'cocktail type' is in your own mind. You really should think about supporting different teams if Sydney supporters are such a dissappointment to you both. Last night I loved the sea of red and white around the ground and the noise of the crowd. Sure it wasnt as loud as Freo last week but to say that the Freo supporters last night were louder than the Swans is ridiculous.

I have to agree about the atmosphere being ordinary, I'm not sure if you guys are having an effect on us or if this means we are now officially RWO'ers, but for the first time in our 9 years of supporting the swans, we were shooshed.

The man and woman sitting in front of us did not stop talking to each other for the entire game, they would have had absolutely no idea what went on, and they had the hide to shoosh us(which only made us louder, and made me really wish that I had taken our extremely loud and proud 4 year old son.) What I don't understand is why these people paid $80 each to go to something that they obviously had no interest in whatsoever.

I had always thought that it was the stadium that was the reason for the lack of atmosphere, but the Freo supporters showed me last night that there is nothing wrong with the stadium, the noise they made for the small amount of people there were, gave me hope that one day we will be able to match the atmosphere of the MCG on Grand Final Day.

Give me bay Hatley any day.
Beauty & the beast, we'll leave it up to you to work it out.
