I've never watched a replay of the '96 GF and probably won't watch this one either. I can't see the point of putting myself through it twice when I don't like the ending.

I watched it last night and even though I knew what the result was, I still felt watching it like we were going to come out on top.

It's only after watching it last night that I realised how strong our comeback was, so even though I might not watch it again now, I'm glad I at least got to see it for what it was because my opinion since Saturday evening has changed.

In a way I'd like to watch it, because you miss so many things at the game - close-ups, replays and commentary.

But I'd have to take medication first!

I found re-watching it to be beneficial. Our first half wasn't quite as bad as I remembered, it was bad and WCE weren't quite as good as I'd imagined. If they ever get a decent forward line then they will be a force to be reckoned with. We had a few bad fumbles a couple of bad bounces and 1 bad umpiring decision go against us. Granted we got a couple of soft frees but only managed to get 2 points from them.
I said to hubby this morning that we actually won by 3 points as they scored a goal from the incorrect free against Kennelly in the 2nd quarter and I've deducted the 2 points we kicked from soft frees. I reckon we should ask the WCEs to return our cup.
Can you imagine how the poor Melbourne Storm fans must feel at least we know that it was the players' first half that cost us and not the umpiring.

If you're talking about the disallowed try, then even if the Vide umpire allowed it as a try, they probably lost the GF by one point anyway.


Watching the replay, it can be a good thing. But i wouldn't watch it, i mean i was crying in the first half becuase they played so badly. Watching it again, it will open the old wounds.

I recorded FFC channel all Saturday and Channel 10 all day.

I have deleted them all. I have no interest in watching it again. It was tough enough sitting through it live.

I watched the replay last night too and I agree. The second half is great footy - the lift in intensity by our team was magnificent. We were so close to victory and back to back glory. History is writen by the winners and so it is with this GF. But if we'd won, the history being told about Saturday's game would be very different to what we're being told now. If you havent seen it, I recommend it, even if it breaks your heart again.

I cant iv'e been having nightmares since saturday,cant sleep and all i can here is that bloody WC song,and its opened up old wounds from 96 and the Roos song.I havnt been able to read the papers i get a tear in my eye every time i see Goodsey and Nick.I was actualy sick on saturday night.Couldnt work on monday and shouldnt have gone today i was as usless as an ash tray on a motor bike.Im shattered still.

I've just finished watching the replay. A fascinating experience after seeing it live. The first half was a very mixed bag - some good things and others that brought on groans and expletives, such as Amon's bungle in the goalsquare (why on earth didn't he just bang it back?), Tadhg's fall to Cousins (and the commentators thought no way was it a free), LRT letting Hansen away (he was managed much better by Leo and Ted in the rotations) and so on.
The second half was amazing. I thought the Eagles started to tire, their marking wasn't quite so close and our blokes had a bit more room, which they made the most of. When we got within 5 points I thought we would get there, but the Eagles flooded like the Nile (forget the man-on-man propaganda) and held us out.
If I were to pick on one ump's decision that cost us, it was when I thought Kerr, after a dazzling run through the centre, was caught with the ball but play was allowed to continue and Hunter goaled. I'm aware there were other decisions, including a few that could have gone the Eagles' way, but that one stood out for me.
It really was a great game, and in the washup we emerged with great credibility and in a good position to give it another shake.

This is in the last quarter? Kerr handballed it in front of himself before he was tackled.
